REALLY last minute. What to do in Honolulu for 7 hours?

Help! What to do in Hawaii for 7 hours?

I arrive Sunday at 8 am. I have to go thru Customs but I am business class and have global entry. Next flight at 3:15.

Want to leave the airport and "do something Hawaiian"

Suggestions? Mode of transportation?

Several months ago I inquired about Pearl Harbor and it was already sold out for the day.

Where should I go and what should I do?

Would love to see the beach, have a bite to eat.
Feel I should be back at the airport by 1:30ish.

Are you renting a car? It most likely be cheaper than cabbing it. Dole Plantation was nice to spend a few hours and you will enjoy the ride.

You could hop on the bus and go to Waikiki and have lunch at Dukes. Or go to Aloha Stadium to the flea market. Maybe both. Pearl Harbor is kind of depressing, imo.

Cost wise it would be cheaper to get a car using Priceline That island is big and getting around will cost you if you cab it

But then you also have to factor in the time to pick up the car, and return it.

If you only take a cab to one location and back (walk around in between) it wouldn't be that bad.

Ask a taxi driver to take you to Lewers Street. You are in the heart of Waikiki Beach and you have choices. You are also steps away from the main boulevard where all the nice shops are and there are many retaurants too to relax with a drink and many hotels on the ocean too so you will have a view. I sent you more by PM. Make sure that there are no special events that day like a parade as you will not make it back to the airport if the parade hadn't started yet before you arrived. Once the parade starts, the streets may be blocked for hours.

This happened to us this year when we had to go to the airport to leave for Maui.

Emmy, I can not get your link to work. I would prefer to ask the taxi to take me to a particular place/hotel/museum.....what is one near Lewers Street?

Frank, I only have a 4-5 hour window so not going to get a car.

Considered the Iolani Palace but it is closed Sundays.

The Halekulani! It is our favorite place. We spend many sunset hours here. You can have lunch at Orchids but you have to make reservations. Where Lewers street ends is the Halekulani across the street and they are on the ocean. It is a very beautiful hotel with a lot of history.

Have you called the tour operators yet. They have been known to purchase these in bulk.

The duck boat has a tour but I don't know what they are about other than you get to drive into the water on a duck boat a ride out to Pearl Harbour.

Pat. that I'm probably not qualified to do. We haven't spent much time at all in Honolulu. Stayed there some years back, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, mostly so we could go to Pearl Harbor.

We took the bus to the Pearl Harbor memorial.

I guess after two weeks on Kauai, we needed to feel depressed.

I would take Emmy's suggestion to go Lewers Street at Waikiki. If you need a particular destination, you can choose the Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk which is right in middle of everything. There are tons of restaurants right there and you are just a couple blocks from the Beach. I would eat lunch at the Shorebird ( Outrigger ) which is right on the beach about 2 blocks from the Wyndham. You can get discount coupons from the various tourist publications that are located along the sidewalk. We love their breakfast buffet which you will be early enough for. The discount coupons I mentioned always have a 2 for 1 at the Shorebird buffet.

We always stay at the Wyndham because of the location. I can't help with the transportation as we always take the Robert's bus to/from the airport. I have no idea what it costs for taxis, etc.
