Anyone know how all the hullabaloo worked out, or has it?

I think they are collecting assessments and progressing with renovations
I think I remember reading they gave the owners a little more time to pay.
My thought is that one of the biggest problems for owners would be the annual fees are really high plus a special assessment
We stayed there a couple of years ago and it certainly is a nice resort.

Hawaii is not something I search regularly, so I don't keep up on it, but I'm surprised that nothing else is available through RCI in the next two years on the south shore.

HTSE has lots of inventory at Lawaii Beach Resort if you have something to trade or they have rental weeks too.

A story told many times . . . when we went to Kauai, we were at a point in our timesharing where we were glazed and amazed that we could get anything, anywhere, there. So, I popped for two weeks at the Makai Club, invited my BIL and SIL, and set out to find us plane fare for less than $3000.

Then, in the 14 day window, a 2-bedroom at LBR appeared, so I "switched" to it. I asked DW if she wanted me to keep trying for anything else. She said only if "The Embassy" showed up. On Thanksgiving day, when I was in Indianapolis and she was in Wichita, "The Embassy" did appear for our second week. I had to wait until the next day to call RCI, but we were able to "Switch" to it, another 2-bedroom.

The day we were to check in there the four of us toured "The Embassy", with the notorious sales weasel Georgio. Among the things he told us were that you have to own to stay there . . . no one ever trades in, and the best units are the ocean-front, ocean-view end units. When we didn't buy, he wouldn't even talk to us on the way to the post-presentation-final-attempt wrap-up at the clubhouse.

Two hours later we were checking in, hoping not to see Georgio, as they carried our bags to our ocean-front, ocean-view end unit (4202, I believe).

Renovations are continuing. Building 3 was almost finished last month when we were there. 2,4,6 are already done. 8 & 9 will be next, then the remainder in 2016

So, I take it everyone is happy, as happy as anyone could be relating to timeshare.

Wow, now that I snooped a bit, I see there are not many topics that trip your trigger. Glad to see I found one.

We were on Kauai in 1999, when we did the sales presentation at the Marriott and were sold on timeshare. We caught the vision for a place to stay that was more than a hotel room, but at less than hotel room rates. And we saw it as a place where we might be able to have multi-generational family vacations in the future.

Fortunately before we left the island we discovered the resale market, and learned there were other resorts. We quickly decided that we were more interested in south shore than north shore or Kapa'a. We quickly narrowed down to Lawai Beach Resort and the Embassy Poipu as the resorts that worked for us. We looked at both and decided that Embassy Poipu was the best place for us. After we returned to the mainland, we rescinded the Mariotts we had purchased, and focused on finding an Embass Poipu resale at a fraction of the cost.

Fast forwarding 15 years, it has worked out largely as we had hoped. We have a place we come back to almost every year that feels like our second home. Last August as we driving near Hanapepe that I had a feeling that the road we were driving on felt as familiar to me as the I-90 floating bridge across Lake Washington. It didn't feel as if we were on "vacation"; rather it felt as if we were "home". For the last several years we have had some of now adult children at Poipu with us. Last year we even had one child (with spouse and grandchild) who wanted to come but couldn't because there wasn't room. We've expanded our ownership so that we can book two units at Poipu.

The water intrusion assessment was a huge pain. Obviously, had I known that was on the Horizon we probably would have settled for LBR. But at the same time. three of our four kids have been to Point at Poipu often enough that they too feel comfortable there and enjoy coming back.

I don't think I can put a price on that.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                  “You shouldn't wear that body.”
