  • Hana from West Maui or Kihei?

So since it looks like we'll be splitting our Maui time b/t Kihei and Ka'anapali Beach, does anyone have an opinion as to which would be better to set out for Hana from? I've currently got our 'powergliding' trip set for midweek during our Kihei stay, but can switch it to the week after if it makes more sense. We'll be spending the night in Hana either way.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Is "powergliding" the one with the extra hard landings?

Ok, you two, cut it out, I am trying to get some information here. It is motorized hang-gliding; I believe the 'power' mode is optional. We have never tried it, I hope to survive and report back. We were going to bike down Haleakala but my youngest doesn't make the height (inseam) requirement for the bikes, so I am hoping this will soften the blow...

Do it from Kihei, along with anything else you plan to on South Maui (such as go to the top Haleakala). That way you avoid the traffic jams getting from West Maui to South Maui.

Once you get to West Maui, you want to minimize the number of treks you make back to South Maui.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

          “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Thanks, Steve! Sounds like the last minute switch to split our Maui stay will work beautifully

Yes, the trip to Hana should coincide with your stay in Kihei-much, much closer. Where are you staying in Hana? You are going to have a great time. I'm so envious and I was just there last month- We didn't make it to Hana-long story-but there is always next time.

I just booked a night at www.hanakaimaui.com. They are 3.5 miles from the Hana Airport, and our oceanfront suite has two twins in the living room for the boys, so it should work well.

btw, it seems I put off a few last minute things a little too long. Many cottages at VNP on Big Island are already booked for our mid-August dates, though I did manage to book a room at a lodge while I continue searching. I was on a rampage about this trip a year ago, then lost focus... oops!
