I just booked two consecutive weeks at KS, so yes it can be done.

I'm very very partial to ocean views and being able to hear and see the water throughout the trip.

That said, when we walked into our lovely two bedroom unit, my youngest daughter who was about 7 at the time said "MOMMY? are we RICH???"

SFX is very good for exchanging into Hawaii.
Good to know my SFX deposit is good for Hawaii. It's about to expire and I was contemplating paying to extend it.

I have had an on-going search with SFX for Hawaii for the first 2 weeks of January ( a relatively slow time) with no luck.

Don't know what to tell you. We have had no problem getting exchanges with SFX to Oahu and the big island. We always go in April.

I am not an expert but unless you are going to the Big Island for Golf ( totally agree with Anita) Waikoloa is very far off my map. Kona is where all the water action is and is more central to the better snorkeling areas on the island.

Anywhere you stay is a hike to volcano national park. I stayed at Kona Coast and enjoyed it. Was close to everything and the units were very large.I got the impression that beach access was a drive from any of the resorts, although there was a very good one between KCR on town.

Last year, we found two consecutive weeks at the Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort, so we stayed in Kona. Big Island has multiple weather zones. In Kona it tends to rain and be cloudy in the afternoon into evening each day. Waikoloa tends to be sunny all day. There are also a number of fabulous less traveled beaches on that side of the airport. We cook in most meals, so Kona is nice, but I would pick Waikoloa for the sun. We tend to be exploring most days but back at the resort for late afternoon pool time, dinner and a relaxing evening. I think we'll go for two weeks at any one of these HGVC resorts and give it a try for Aug 2017. Most mainland flights seem to go thru Honolulu, so I want to see what we can get there either thru SFX or RCI. Any thoughts about that???
