  • Got Kona Coast request matched in 24 hours through II - keep, yes?

I am remembering why I like II so much....

I just placed a request for next summer and I wasn't quite prepared for a match so quickly. I had requested specific resorts on both BI and Kauai, but this is the one I figured most likely to match.

From what I can tell, the units may be a bit older, but huge. I don't care so much about space, but do need a comfortable bed and prefer the upholstered furniture to be un-gross. A nice view (not parking lot) from the lanai would be an added bonus, too.

I am familiar with the location, and it's fine with me -- the only place I'd prefer on BI for location would Kona Reef since it's right on the shore, but I gather that is a less likely and difficult trade?

Anything I should know/consider in deciding whether to keep KCR?

    TIA

    Wow, quick match!
No input in resort of course but happy none the less!

I staid at Kona Coast phase II (newer section) last year and loved it. Had huge updated 2BR unit with super comfy beds. Great Lanai with nice relaxing views of golf course. Location is great and close to everything with car which is a must. Only negative is no elevators and we were on top floor which was fine except for carrying luggage or groceries. However being on top floor gave us huge vaulted ceilings which made unit seem even more spacious.

        Thanks!

I just found this on the confirm, am posting it for informational purposes:

Construction/renovation/maintenance projects are ongoing year round. For details, including dates, project type, and possible impact to guests, please contact the resort. An exterior painting project will continue through Summer 2015. Additional ongoing updates to continue through 2017, include updates to kitchen (countertops, cabinets, floors, ‚ appliances), painting, replacing wallcovering and soft goods Conditions associated with these projects, including noise, should be expected.

Reminder to you about EPlus. You can lock in your dates but upgrade to something "better" if you like later in the game.

We have stayed there. Like the resort, would stay again. You're not on the water (like Kona Reef, where we rented the last time we were on the Big Island), but the resort is on the cliffs overlooking the water. As I recall the units were roomy (there were four of us). I think a/c was extra, but we didn't need it, and this was during the summer. The building we were in was pretty much next to the pool. We had a nice view towards the ocean.

Do you know if this is Kona Coast I or II? I are the older, and possibly larger, units farther from the ocean. We stayed in II.

True... but I can't do that with ongoing search and that seems to be the best for me with II...

I got Kona Coast I. There is a construction notice on the confirm. Also just found out that camp spots have not yet been fully secured for the kiddles for next summer so I may throw this back until I have firmer dates... hope I'm not sorry. Argh.

Although I like Kona Coast (stayed in KC I many years ago), it appears on II quite often. I think you should have no problem getting a trade when your schedule is finalized...

That's what I'm thinking, especially since I have some mild flexibility in dates... thanks for reinforcing my thoughts.
