Traveling from Maui to Kona, HI

It appears that I will have to connect through Oahu to fly from Kahukui, Maui to Kona, HI. Does this sound right? Also, I booked Hawaiian Air from Oahu to Maui because of the weight limits. If I want to be able to have 2 pieces of luggage, I think I am limited to Aloha Air and Hawaiian Air. Is this correct?

I think Hawaiian has one direct flight per day, at least I know they do in the other direction.

The problem with the direct flight is that it is in the afternoon. I have read that the airport in Maui is crazy busy, and it has been recommended that we try to fly out early.

Wouldn't you rather fly direct from a busy airport than have to go through HNL? I am flying to LAX out of Maui next thursday, I will let you know how it seems.

I see that Hawaiian has a direct for $109.00. Aloha has a driect for $73. If I am reading the luggage restrictions correctly, they both allow 2 pieces of checked luggage P/P. Is this correct?

I was told the limit was 2 pieces pp, 50 lbs per piece.. hope this helps
