I called the 888 number yesterday that is the reservations line for weeks owners at this resort. The agent told me that if you prepay your MF you can reserve your week 2 years in advance. Does that sound right?? She implied that getting week 51 or 52 was not a problem if one planned ahead. She said points reservations are handled by a whole different department.
I wanted to find out, but didn't, what happens if you want to exchange a week in RCI. Do they let you put in the prime week you reserved or do they assign you a space banked week? I met a distressed weeks owner here yesterday who stated he deposited in RCI over a year ahead and made a request for Kauai for next week (New Years) and never got an exchange. He couldn't tell me what week he had deposited into RCI.
I think maybe phase I was sold as floating weeks and everything since as Fairfield points? Thay restrict weeks owners to units in phase I.

You could always buy ultra cheap FSP points for maybe a penny a point and use 231K to trade into KHV at the 10 month open season.

Or you could buy even less and deposit 28K into RCI and watch the bulk spacebanks and trade into KHV for 28K, which is how I do it.

So $280 to purchase 28K, $140 MF and $164 for the exchange.

Or buy a floating week for $5-$7K.

      Your call.

Stan, Did you mean $10/pt or $1/pt. So, if I bought around 300,000 points, would it cost $3000 or $300? In terms of the watching for spacebanks, can you place an ongoing request with the 28K point deposit with RCI for a 2BR? or do you have internal trading priority within Fairfield that makes a blue studio exchange to a 2BR Gold Crown holiday week feasible? Thanks for pointing out this option.

Right now, you can find deals on ebay for FF points for less than $10 per 1000 points (or $.01 per point). 300,000 points would cost $3,000.

Spacebanks. Yes you can have an ongoing search with a 28k points deposit with RCI for a 2BR. You are supposed to have internal trading priority within RCI for FF, but who knows today? Most FF owners watch for the spacebanks being deposited and then call FF to have RCI snag a 2BR for 28k. Even without a spacebank, I think you could exchange into most FF units for 70k points or less.

One of the great things about TS4MS is the exchange opportunities that are posted. Many of the FF spacebanks are sighted here first.
