I am looking for a hotel right in the main area of Waikiki beach. I am not looking for beach front hotels, nor do I want to possibly even go to the beach. We are looking to be centrally located to shopping and entertainment. I have been to Oahu 20 years ago. We just want to see some art galleries in the Waikiki area. Can anyone give me some street names that I can use as a starting point to look for hotels, or possibly some hotels in the moderate price range in the area I am talking about. Thanks

What do you have in mind as a "moderate price range"? In my experience, "moderate" on Oahu, even using discount sites such as Orbits, hotels.com, etc, is close to $200/night. Also many nicer hotels in Wa`ikiki have two or three night minimumsOriginally posted by Ann-Marie
After some careful shopping around several years ago, we found a place for about $100 per night for a room with two queens, but I would never stay there again and would not recommend it. I would cnsider that place economy at best.
That is why I pointed you to Hotwire in the thread over at TUG. Through HW we paid $120 (plus taxes and fees) for one night at the Radisson Prince Kuhio last month. That is better than a "moderate" hotel, IMHO, at close to budget rates. (The best direct booking rate I was able t find for the Radisson was about $200/night, and also had a three-night minimum.)
Granted, those are August rates, but if you're traveling off peak you should be able to do even better with HW or PL. Off peak is when they get the most inventory and the cheapest rates.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

Steve, I was hoping to keep the rate below $150.00 per night. We will be staying 2 nights. I will definately check out hotwire and priceline. What I really want to work on is the location. I have trouble walking a great distance. So, like I said, I want to be right in the waikiki area. If I have some street names that would be the best for me, then I can research hotels better.Ann-MarieComment

AnnMarie before you go and bid on hotwire or priceline. Yeah that's right a local travel agent.
They may have some bulk/consolidator rates in hotels like Outriggers Reef or other 3 stars that would be within your budget.
When we went last we could only book one FF ticket. Fares to match were $1100 RT. I walked into a local TA and she got us RT tickets to match on UA PLUS 3 nights hotel on Oahu, transfers and car rental for a week on Kauai for what Air alone would have cost us.

Good Idea! However, I would have to start moving out of my little town for travel agents. I have gone to them many times to pick their brains about different places to vacation and get prices, and then go home and book them myself. I am embarrassed to go into the 2 that we have locally since they now know me!!
Last night I was able to see the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for #172.00 per night with AAA. It was cheaper than all of the other sites like PL etc. The only thing is that the hotel has mixed reviews on Tripadvisor.Ann-MarieComment

Hi, Ann-Marie... I agree with Big Frank about searching Bidding for Travel before going to Priceline. Some of the hotels are on Lewers, Kalakaua, Kuhio. You can probably tell more by looking at Priceline's area maps. Good luck! Jean
