  • 2007 trip all set

Booked airline for our trip to the Big Island this morning. I was able to get two seats using Saver awards with United, and two using Standard. Although it would have been nice to get all of them with Saver, this will work.

Right now we're set with the first two nights in Volcano Village, a week at Kona Coast and then a week at Paniolo Greens. I still have an ongoing request for either the Bay Club or Hilton for the second week, but if nothing comes through we'll be fine with Paniolo Greens. I'm just happy to have everything set.

    When are you going?

Sounds like a great trip - almost the same as what we're planning for Feb of 2008. I still need my second week to come through and we're hoping we'll be able to use FF miles in April or so to get there.

      NICE!

I hope I have as good luck with our next Hawaii trip in 2008 with FF. Those fairs from the east coast can be KILLER!

You never know last minute what will show up in Hawaii for your timeframes.

      Good Luck!

Hey -- your trips sound great!

Where are you guys requesting for Hawaii?

I put in a request with SFX last week for 2 weeks in Hawaii (any island will do, but I said my preference was 1 week Kauai and 1 week Oahu) for November 11/12 - 25/26 of 2007. Hoping I luck out because I started early!!!

By where did you mean where did we go to make the requests? Or what areas did we request?

My trades came through with RCI. I was looking only for the Big Island, one week in Kona and one week in the Waikoloa area. I was using one-bedroom units from San Diego Country Estates. I pulled two two-bedroom units. With Paniolo Greens I wasn't surprised because all they have are two-bedroom and it's fairly easy to get a unit there. Getting a two-bedroom at Kona Coast pleasantly surprised me. As I said I still have an on-going request for Bay Club or Hilton (in place of Paniolo Greens) but we'll only take it if we can get a two-bedroom.

I also had a request in with Trading Places Maui using our Maui Hill unit. Since I didn't deposit first, and since they NEVER get Bay Club, I've pulled back that request. We're going to rent our 2007 Maui Hill unit out (through the resort) instead.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

The one thing (besides rental car) that I have left to do is see if I can change two of the seats. When we book using Steve's account we get seats in Economy Plus since he's a Premier member. Unfortunately he didn't have enough miles for all 4 tickets, so I used miles out of my account for 2 seats. Those 2 are back in "steerage" as my dd refers to Economy. I'm going to see if I call if they can change so all 4 seats are in Economy Plus. If not, well heck, the two dds can just suffer. Heck, when Steve and I went to Maui in March there were two young girls in Economy Plus with us (I had Steve help them put their stuff in the overheads). Turns out their parents were up front in First Class, never even came back to check on the girls the whole flight!

"...the whole fight!" Enjoyable typo (or is it real?).

Premiers are only supposed to be able to bring one other body into E+ (that person occupies the adjacent seat that would have otherwise been blocked). But you might get a sympathetic agent. Good luck!...

Well, the first person I talked to was "sympathetic" but couldn't/wouldn/t do anything about the seats. Steve is going to call the number he has for Premier members and see what they can do. What's strange is that I have made other reservations for us and we have gotten more than just the two Economy Plus seats.

[The "fight" thing was a typo. I went back and corrected it, ]
