  • Best Rooms - Kaanapali Beach Vacation Resort, the (Embassy) in Maui

For those of you who are thinking of trading in to Kaanapali Beach Vacation Resort, the (Embassy) in Maui. They only give garden views to the people that are trading into this resort. NO EXACTIONS

As for us we just came back from the Kaanapali Beach Vacation Resort, Maui. They gave us a garden / Mountain View, it was on the top floor corner unit, the living room had a glass sliding door that face the mountain and the bedroom had a glass sliding door that face the ocean, facing Lanai and south tip of Molokai. They called this room a garden / Mountain View because the living room faces the Mountain. The balcony / lanai went around the corner to both doors. We were in room 1234. This is the best room to ask for when checking in.

I went to the front desk; ask for a map of all the rooms’ garden / mountain / ocean views. Here is the best rooms for one who is trading in to this resort who wants an ocean or partial ocean view.

Remember the higher the floor / highest number, the better view you will have.

    1234, 1229
    1134, 1129
    1034, 1039
    929
    829
    735, 728
    635, 622, 620, 619, 618, 617
    535, 522, 521, 519, 518, 517
    420, 419, 418, 417

Rooms 829 & 929 are two bedrooms lockoffs

This rule dose not a play to these rooms, they are the best of the best. Ask for them first.
    1234, 1134, 1034, 735, 635, 535

    GOOD LUCK

I was just bowled over by the ocean view there. We have stayed in nice TSs in the past, but nothing like the Embassy. Other than not getting an ocean view accomodation, how did you like staying there? We normally spend minimal time at the resort, but Embassy looks inviting enough to spend time there as well as on sightseeing.

      Sue,

I'm sure Ken will jump in, but we were there in August. The pool is very pleasant (and I hate pool-lounging) as it is so large. Lunch at the outdoor grill is great b/c the view of the ocean is lovely. Sunset there is spectacular, as it sets right between Lanai and Molokai. The beach right there is a bit narrow and small, but you can walk a nice stretch of it to the right. The manager's 'free drink' reception every day from 4-6 is a nice bonus, though they won't let you take your drinks anywhere out of the area. We also liked lunch next door, I can't remember the name but if you walk over on the beach side it's right next door, it's a ResortQuest place.

We did have an ocean / Mountain View; we had a corner unit #1234. I meet some people that had an ocean front, we compared views. We both agreed that room #1234 had a better view, we could watch the sun come up over the Mountain then watch the sun go down over the water, between Lanai and south tip of Molokai. They called this room a garden / Mountain View because the living room faces the Mountain. But the bedroom had a glass sliding door that faces the ocean. The balcony / lanai went around the corner to both doors. All the rooms that have this View are 1234, 1134, 1034, 735, 635, 535. So if I was trading back in this resort these are the rooms I would ask for.

We enjoyed lying by the pool and working on our tan, we live in the fog (SF) so the sun felt good.

As fore as food goes, josie made a good tasting meatloaf in the microwave so we had meatloaf sandwiches for lunch most of the time. We would eat dinner out.

        I would go back.

          Room Unit and Kitchen Question

          Ken or Avery,

I'm looking at booking/renting a 1BR unit at this resort. I've been given options of scenic view/ocean view and deluxe ocean view, all which increase in price. Ken based on your posting, I'm thinking you had a scenic view/mountain view room?? Based on what you're telling me, I'm not really giving up anything, maybe even getting a better deal if I ask and get the room you got.

How about the kitchen and other stuff. Avery, you said all the rooms have been renovated but what about the kitchen. That's really important to us as we cook most of our meals, probably more so with Maui being pricey.

          Comments?

Sadly, none of the units have full kitchens... only microwave, fridge, coffee pot If that's not a deal breaker, I don't know what the difference in price is for the view, or when you're going, but I wouldn't spend a lot on deluxe ocean view, but I'd spend a little more, for sure. Our view was scenic view was fine but nothing special, but it wasn't a dumpster/parking lot view like we got at the Marriott (though it was considered ocean view), either

When we were there, we found that with a little creative planning we could adapt our cooking style to use the microwave and still keep food costs down, without eating a lot of packaged foods.

Glad to hear there is still the manager's cocktail hour, we enjoyed that too. Do they still offer music during that time? I was afraid once it lost Embassy name, the "bonus" would go.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

We're going in January. The price difference between ocean and non-ocean view is $150 for the week. Is that whale watching season?

Yes, it is whale season. February and March seem to be the best months but we have seen them often in April too. January should be great! We saw only a few just before Christmas.

For whales, I'd pay the upgrade. In fact for only $21/nite, I'd pay it regardless for that view....

If that's the scenic view, I can live with that. To get that view at the lower rate is fine with us.

Two questions? Is this a Sunterra Resort and can Sunterra Club exchangers reserve ocean view villas?

I would e-mall or call and ask what day of week check in is for these rooms, then you would have an idea of what room might be available.

I would ask for these rooms first. These has the best views
                            1234, 1134, 1034, 735, 635, 535

We just got lucky with room 1234; this room is the best room for ocean / Mountain View in the Kaanapali Beach Vacation Resort, the (Embassy).

I wish everyone good luck trading in to one of these rooms.

Gord, I am pretty sure that's ocean view, not scenic view, best to call the resort and check
