  • Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort has 2 codes KAA and KA1

I finally put in a request through II for Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort, The Sands of Kahana Vacation Club, or Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club. However the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort had 2 II codes KAA and KA1. I take it there are 2 resorts next to each other and if so should I avoid one or the other? I am thinking one is older then the other.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I don't think so... II likes to make things difficult on normal people by giving a few resorts multiple codes... RCI does it too...

They may be different sections but they are likely the same resort...

If you learn anything, please let me know so I can update the database!

Ken, some of the resorts have two different codes for the identical resort. The Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta has also two different codes with RCI so I asked them why. The units of one of the two codes belong to the developer as they are not sold yet and the the other code comes from deposited weeks of the timeshare owners of the same resort. This is how it seems to work with the resorts in Mexico.

We own another resort where there are two different codes and that means that one is building A and the other one is building B (Maui Sunset in Maui, HI). It may be the same for different phases of other timeshare developments too as some of the units are older or newer so RCI or II know the difference. JMHO.

WKORV does have two codes. I've heard it's because the resort was built in two phases. KAA is for Bldg. A (northern wing of the U) and KA1 is for Bldg. B(southern wing) & C (next to lobby-mostly IV). I don't know if this is the real reason or not. The sister resort,WKORV-N, will have the code KAN.
