Hubby & I will be in Kona for 2 weeks. We both want to go whale watching. Any recommendations which tour to take? Other recommenations for things to do?
Nancy, we haven't gone whalewatching on the big Island so I can't help there. But we have been, Kona Joe's Coffee plantation is well worth going, the owners are an orthopaedic surgeon and his lovely wife. Very nice folks.
Volcano's National park was also very interesting although we didn't get to see moving lava, since my fiancee needs knee surgery and couldn't do the long walk required. We'll be in Kona again in Feb. so maybe you can report back who was good for whalewatching.
I haven't been on it myself, but I've heard that Capt Dan McSweeny's whale watching trip is great. I've heard great things about it on the konaweb.com website.
