    Mike,

I visited all the remaining resorts today that I didn't see earlier in the week. I have a pretty good idea of what every resort has to offer.

My favorite resort overall is the Marriott Waiohai by far. That is the resort I will probably stay at next.

My second favorite is Pono Kai due to the Oceanfront units that I can get there.

My third is the Hanalei Bay Resort. It's a bit older, but it has a great feel to it. I met a guy who owns a 3 bedroom plus loft, 2100 sqft condo. He rents it out when he isn't using it. I'm thinking about renting it some time.

Two resorts that will give the Marriott a run for its money will be the Ritz Carleton which really doesn't count since it is in a completely different class of accommodations. And, the Westin Princeville. They have 4 building going up. Great location, but you can't see much yet.

Boca, did you go to the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy? What did you think of it.

Yes, I did go to the Beachboy. I thought it was good. I would rate it slightly higher, but at the same level as the Pono Kai. It has a restaurant, but the oceanviews aren't as nice as Pono Kai.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see your friends from Fodors. We decided to see the rest of the timeshares we missed instead.

I've got pictures of every resort I visited. I'm busy at the moment since I just got back home, but I'll try to post them when I get a chance.

I took a TS tour of the BeachBoy

The units were much nicer than the Pono Kai, but I would agree with Boca. If you can get in buildings A, B, C, or D at the PK the view makes up for everything. It's also just a really great resort...the grounds are perfect.

Beach Boy does have a heated pool though...PK was chilly in Nov when I was there.

As you can see, this is a great unit for New Year's week. Dec 29 check in.

She is offering it for direct exchange of 15000 Bluegreen points. If anyone is interested in it, let me know.

We have been going to Kauai for over 20 years and I would HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT SWIM ANYWHERE ON THE EAST SHORE EXCEPT FOR LYDGATE BEACH! The east shore has a record of many drownings due to rough surf, riptides and rocks! We have been on island when people have died off of the beach at Pono Kai. With so many beautiful and much much safer beaches on island, please skip the Pono Kai beach. It's lovely to look at, great to sit and watch the ocean but it can be deadly!
