The Interiors look better in person.

I think that the interior looks better in person The color of the walls is deeper than what shows on the pictures. The furniture also looks better in person.

We are staying in unit 101 at the Fairfield. I took some pictures from the 12th floor. It appears that the best unit in the whole building would be unit 1202. I would rate this unit as a 9 to 9.5. The Fairfield is not a 10 because it is not on the beach. I will post new pictures each day while at the Fairfield. Check out the view from 101 and 1202 (in the hall way outside unit 1202). They have Hi speed in the lobby for free.

Overall the units are very nice. However, I would rate unit 101 as a 8 because of the view of the alley and the noise from the tour buses from 5:00 to 7:30 am. Unit 101 does have a view of the swimming pool

Thank you so much for posting your pictures. It looks to me like you are working on them right now and are adding the descriptions. I love the Internet as we are all connected right now.

Enjoy your vacation. You already saw quite a bit.

                  Last Day on Oahu

Today is our last day on Oahu. So here are a few points about the Fairfield (Wyndham), Waikiki, and our week on Oahu. Tomorrow we will begin our week on Kauai, and then on to Maui for a week.

The Fairfield seems to be using the Wyndham name for this Resort. The Welcome Brochure heading states “Wyndham Vacation Resorts….Waikiki Beach Walk.”

It was hard to find the Wyndham because they don’t have their sign up yet. Because the parking is located off of the alley behind the Wyndham, it too was hard to find. If you have a car, you need to make a right turn from Ala Moana Blvd onto Kalakaua Ave. Continue on a few blocks and drive pass Beachwalk. The very next street is Lewers St. Make a right turn on Lewers St. There is a building on your left. Then there is an exit lane from a parking building to you left. The next building on your left is the North Tower of the Wyndham (Fairfield). The entrance to the lobby is up one level from the street between the North and South Towers on Lewers St. If you continue on Lewers St. there is what I would call an alley on your left, which they call Helumoa Road. Turn left on Helumoa Road and follow the sign to the Valet parking for the Wyndham on your left.

Waikiki is a place to go people watching. And just like any large city there are lots of people in Waikiki. And just like any large city there are lots of people walking on the Main Street ( In Waikiki it is called Kalakaua Ave.) But what large city do you find girls in Bikini, with and without their Surf Boards, walking the Main St?

Stay away from the Freeway H1 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm if you can. It is a slow moving parking lot.

My top 5 things to see and do on Oahu are:

                  1) The USS Arizona Memorial
                  2) The USS Missouri
                  3) Seeing the North Shore
                  4) Polynesian Cultural Center
                  5) Climbing to the top of Diamond Head. DO NOT DO IT IF YOU ARE NOT FIT. If you are really unfit, you may just get a Helicopter ride down from the top of Diamond Head.

We had a good week on Oahu with more sun than rain.

                  Walt

PS. More pictures posted to day.

Wow! Thanks Walt! This is where I am staying for a week of my first visit to Hawaii for my honeymoon in November. The pics look great and we are city people (from NYC), so the atmosphere sounds great to me too!

What type of room did you have (2 bedroom?) - I traded a 1 BR, so I will probably get that...

How far from the beach is the hotel? Walking distance?

Climbing Diamond Head sounds great - how long does it take? Also, what is there to do at the Polynesian Center?

Thanks for your posts and the pics -- they are GREAT! Enjoy Maui and Kaui!!

We had a 2 bedroom Unit.

The Wyndham is about a block away from the Outrigger Reef. You can walk to the beach by way of the Outrigger's lobby.

As far as walking up Diamond Head, they say it take 3/4 of a hour to walk up and another 3/4 of a hour to walk down for a total time of 1 3/4 hours with 15 minutes on top. I think we did it in about 1 hour and 30 minutes total time up and down, but we also stayed on top about 15 minutes. So it should take you less than 3/4 of a hour to get to the top.

I will tell you more about the Polynesian Center later.

Thanks for posting your pictures, they are great. I tried to see how many points it was to stay at the new FF resort but there was no point grid on the website. Hope that doesn't mean it cost an arm, leg & a foot . I will have to call tomorrow.

Looks and sounds like you had a great time.
