  • The Cliff's Kauai

OK, my first testing of the waters at this site. Found a link on Fodor's.

My wife and I own 3 weeks of timeshare at The Cliff's in Princeville on the island of Kauai's North Shore.

We have traveled there about 15 times since 1985, and we love the island.

I love to talk about and help anyone with favorites of ours and things to avoid, so anyone feel free to let me know your views of Kauai or ask for any advice.

I do have a file I can send is asked of our favorites and some tips on travelling the island.

    Aloha

      Favorite months?

Hi! er Aloha! I own around the corner from you at the Bali Hai. We've been twice in September and once in May. We enjoy the beaches and love to snorkel, but would love to go sometime when the whales are in the area. Can you advise months you enjoy and why? Cliffs Resort looks nice, but are the ocean view units pricey or hard to come by? Are you able to compare it to the Shearwater? The latter seemed to be showing a recent need for paint and spackled crack repairs on the outside. Thank you. Mahalo! Gary

Aloha! Welcome to the forums....we have stayed at the Cliffs and in Princeville several times. We love Kauai! The area of Princeville is our first choice, even though lots of folks prefer Poipu. We look forward to hearing from you.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I just spent a week in Kauai. I visited all the timeshares on the island. My favorites were The Marriott Waiohai (Poipu), The Hanalei Bay Resort (Princeville) and The Pono Kai (Kapaa).

My favorite restaurant was Kintaro Japanese Restaurant. My favorite Ice Cream was Lamperts in Hanapepe. My favorite hole in the wall was Puka Dog's. My favorite activity was Birds in Paradise, ultralite powered hang gliding.

            Cant' wait to get back.

Where is the launching site for the hang gliding? I would love to try that some day. We certainly enjoyed the zip line tour near Princeville.

              Hope

It's at a small airstrip just past Hanapepe on the west side of the island. My wife wanted to do that zip line. We'll do that next time.

I can't believe you love Puka Dogs. I had passed this place up for many years until I saw a short article about it on the Travel Channel. I have been back every year since.........best, the very best hot dog experience ever

We have always gone during the summer, July and August as my wife worked in our school district, but she has now retired and we may try some other times of year. However, you can not beat the weather that time of year, very little rain of consequence. Whale watching, I belioeve would be best from December to maybe late Feb or March...someone jump in with better knowledge of that.

WE did one quick tour of Shearwater a few years ago and were not overly impressed. WE have owned timeshare at The Cliffs since 1987 and have never been sorry, 2006 was the first we traded since 1995 and we went to Scotland and London. We always ask for buildings 8 or 9, right on the cliffs and have always gotten our first or second choice. Timeshre is through II.

Welcome Rich. We own nearby at Hanalei Bay Resort. A couple of years ago, we exchanged a couple of other timeshares through II for units at Cliffs Club for my wife's SIL and our daughter. I thought the units were nice and roomy. Of course, the view isn't quite the same as ours at Hanalei Bay.

Hey neighbor, love the Happy Talk Lounge at HBR. Gotta give you that one.......no one beats your view. We own a 2 bedroom unit and always ask for a 3rd floor unit in either unit 8 or 9, right on the cliff, so our view isn't too shabby.

                          Love Kauai
