  • How Long Did You Wait..

    to get your Hawaii exchange?

I submitted a prime 1-BR week from my Cabo home resort to SFX in Sept. 2006 (it was a 3 for 1 deal). So, I requested 2 weeks in Hawaii for my honeymoon in November .. and 1 week in Cabo in August. I have one week reserved with SFX for 11/16/07 - 11/23/07 at the new Waikiki Beach Walk Resort (I had wanted a different check in date, but took this one because I had heard that the resort was going to be really nice!). But, I am still waiting for my second week.. I requested it to be back to back but on a different island (preferably Kaui or Maui). We just bought the timeshare in August last year, so this is my first trade. How long do you usually wait before getting what you requested? Haven't confirmed the MX week yet either....

I should probably note that I requested the high scale resorts which include AC, are close to or include restaurant(s), etc.

Mine was easy and hard at the same time. It was easy because I did it 2 years out and since I need 4 weeks I wanted to do 1 week on each island. The trick is to get the dates to work out. So the way I started it I knew I needed summer. I asked what they had and took the first two weeks that were back to back. Then I looked for either two weeks before or after or 1 week before and 1 after. The first two weeks had worked out fast but the last two took me about 6 months longer. I had to end up spending an extra night in Maui and I might have short changed 1 day in Kona. This was one of our best trips and the air using FF miles was just as much of a rush.

Thanks Big Frank. OK, I gave them only a year advance notice, and I'm only at 3 - 4 months waiting.... so, I'm still in good shape.

Which islands were your favorite and why? Since you got to see all 4 at once, you're probably a good person to ask!

Most inventory becomes available with in the last month or 14 to 30 days out. People cancel because they never bought there air and find it is to expensive. Most of the members here will chance it and buy there air praying that a good week will come in with in the last week I have not heard from anyone that they did not get there week at the end but you will sweat it out.

As far as our Favorite goes, Kauai takes it as far as beauty goes. Plenty of Greenery, Waterfalls and the colorful birds would eat out of your hands.
Maui had a lot going on but unless you were on the road to Hana, IMO Driving through Maui was not a beautiful view. We saw a lot of construction with little flowers or trees. Also in Maui you needed to go far to see things.
Oahu has a lot going on all over the place. Very crowed and it is just like a big city. You can have fun here and never have a dull moment.
Kona was different than the others. It is mainly black rock. I liked seeing the white shells used as letters to post messages along the lava black rock roads. There is still a live Volcano which is why this island is so popular.

there is also some amazing snorkeling in and near Kona, and the town of Kona is cute and fun. There are plenty of good 4 wd drive 'adventure' trips to secluded beaches, too. I love it on the Big Island!

I agree. Big Island is our favorite! We'll be back for 2+ weeks this summer.

I think that's it. You'll do two islands this trip, and you'll have another couple to cover next time
