  • Planning Hawaii for Christmas 07

We are currently planning to take a family holiday to Hawaii for Christmas 07 (Dec 15 to 29). We currently only one one week through RCI for exchange. What is everybodys opinion on trying to get to Hawaii during this time. Should I attempt to exchange two weeks at my home resort (07 & 08)? Or would I be best just trying to rent something there instead? I've heard it is very difficult to get to Hawaii this time of year.

    Any suggestions would be fantasic!!

The 1st week 15-22 should be easy

but not for a 2 bedroom on Oahu.

These are few and far between.

You will have a much better chance on the Big Island or Kauai.

Now the Christmas week is another story.

Be prepared to pay $1750-2750 for rent that week at any resort in Hawaii, maybe more for the Marriott or Westins .

Right now HTSE ( Sonya) has a 2 bedroom at the Paniolo Greens with a 12/15 check in date.

Your 1 bedroom deposit will work, but they have an upcharge for the upgrade of $175.

They are also show a 2 bedroom at Lawai Beach resort with a 12/21 check in, ( a one day overlap and an island change) .

This is a very expensive time in Hawaii for all travel related items such as car rental, etc.

Thanks for the input. Is it possible to use my 2008 deposit for the second week? As you can tell I am very new to this TS thing.

Yes, if the resort will allow you to

deposit it. Each resort chain has it's own rules regarding deposits. You may need to call them and ask. What resort do you own? Greg

We own at the Grandview at Las Vegas (one bedroom sleep 4) during the labor day weekend (I think it is week 36). I am just having a hard time depositing it especially if I get nothing in return.

If you want a sure thing Hawaii trade and your not completely tied to travelling during Christmas break, HTSE is the way to go. Have you logged on their site as a guest to check out their current inventory? It's possible that more christmas week units will be deposited but it's also possible that more won't be. At least you can see what's there now before you take the plunge, though.

Ya I did take a quick peek at what they had and I have also messaged them because I wasn't exactly sure how it worked with exchanging with them. Sonya did tell me that it is very difficult to get something there that time of year and especially for a two bedroom.

                Did I miss something???

HTSE has the timeframe you are asking about available right now, I don't understand what you are saying abount not getting anything??

Is there something you don't understand about what I said?

Please tell me so I can answer your questions.

Let me rephrase. I am not sure if that is my best option. I just want to be sure of things before I part with my timeshare for the next two years.

btw, I am not a big fan of changing islands as we will have other relatives on Oahu during the same time.

                    Ok,

I would recommend that you consider renting from Marriott, or the Imperial. They both have 2 bedroom suites. fwiw, Greg
