  • Hawaii - 2009 or 10

We are looking at going to Hawaii in 2009 or 10. We will need at least a two bedroom unit. The question I have is it easier to get one two bedroom unit or two one bedroom units at the same resort for the same week? I have an II three bedroom unit that is a lock out, can lock out as two one bedroom units or one two bedroom unit & a studio unit.

It is likely easier to get 2-1 bedroom units than 1-2 bedroom unit. It seems to me that most people deposit their lockout units as two units.

If you want to go to Oahu let me know. We one 2-1 bedroom there and will gladly reserve and deposit the week you want. Of course we won;t be able to guarantee the trade, but at least you'd know for a fact that what you were looking for was in the bank.

What time of the year do you plan to go? Do you have an island preference? I stayed in an awesome 3 bdr unit on Maui at SOK but that was a rental, not an exchange.

Assuming you are trading a red week, you should consider using Hawaii Timeshare Exchange. If Kauai works for you and you request early, Lawai Beach resort is practically guaranteed for whatever unit size you want outside of Jan thru March. Even if you want Jan thru March, you have a good shot at it with an early request. They do get plenty of other Hawaiian inventory, too.

You can see all of their inventory online if you sign on as a guest and if you see what you want you can sign up, deposit and exchange very quickly.

Ditto the suggestion of Lawai Beach Resort. Their two-bedroom units are not lock-offs and they do get deposited with HTSE pretty regularly, especially outside of the peak winter months.

How do you sign on as a guest with the Hawaii Timeshare Exchange? Not sure of the islands, yet, but probably would want to do two of them, one week each. Also, what are the best times to go there?

            The website is www.htse.net

Then for User name and Password use:

            Username: 9999
            Password: HTSE

This info is available in the HTSE forum a little further down.

There are a number of nice 2 bedroom resorts on the Big Island that trade through SFX and RCI, probably HTSE too.

The whales are there from December to March. There are no bad times to be there
