planning to visit Bigisland and Maui - Need advice

I am planning to visit Bigisland(3 days) and maui(5 days) in May 1st week, Highly appriciate if someone can advice me about how should I plan my trip specially I am looking for those timeshare deals for hotel stay , I cannot afford to buy timeshare but I have heard that if I can attend timeshare session I can get to stay at resort like (Hilton,marriot,Hyatt) at very reasonable price. Also should I book my air tickets separately or do I have an option of getting a complete vacation package(Air,hotel,car)
I live in columbus,oh and wanted to go Bigisland first ,stay at timeshare deals hotel ,rent a Jeep at bigisland for 3 days, then move to maui stay at timeshare delas hotel,rent a convertible and fly back from maui to columbus,oh ..Thanks a lot in advance for your time and valuable advice.

My advice would be that with only 8 days, you should stay on one island. And if you must split it in two, I'd spend 5 days on Big Island and 3 on Maui. There is way too much to do and see on BI in 3 days.

I know that wasn't your question, but I feel I must speak up.

As for timeshare presentations, they won't include air, but might include a car. Marriott generally requires a referral from a Marriott owner, not sure about the others you mentioned.

Well the information you have shared is very helpful to me , I am open to replan my stay at Hawaii, I can stay 5 days at Bigisland and 3 days at maui, The reason I was planning to stay at Maui for 5 days so that I can cover Lahnai and Molokai , and at Bigisland I was only interested to see Volcano. promo link is also good.

If you only want to stay at Volcano National Park, timeshares on Big Island make no sense; they are at least 2 hours away, except for one about 40 minutes away, in the middle of nowhere. You are better of renting a cottage at VNP.

And if you want to do both Lanai and Molokai while on Maui, then you should spend at least 5 days there. You will also want to see Haleakala, and hopefully do the Road to Hana (another two hour drive each way).

Of course you will have no time to rest, at all. Pick one island.

You have to know what you want to do before planing how many days you want to spend and where you want to be.

In Maui you should not miss the early sunrise at the Crater, be sure to bring winter jackets. From there the Road to Hana is a must do. A day to relax.

The big Island has the live Volcano which is an all day ad night thing since you have to drive threw the Volcano national park. When you do go there be sure to get there early. parking is close if you get there early. If you get there late you can walk an extra mile. Bring old sneakers or hiking boots that you might get rid of they will get ruined. Have enough water and a flash light for every person. If you have a walking stick bring it. The walk on the lava rocks is a far walk. The BI also has black sand Beach's, Coffee plantations, shopping near Kona and much more.

I will going to stay full time at Maui(5 May to 13 May), didn't found a timeshare accomodation so I will going to book some hotel, please advice me that should I stay at 1 hotel for all the time or should I keep moving within the island (west,central,east), also now I have 7-8 days , how I can plan my stay at Maui

During my stay at Maui from 5th may till 13th May, I am planning to go visit Molokai for 1 day, starting early morning and come back late night , please advice should I take ferry or interisland flight.

maui /BIg isle visit

Hi sahuk// i've been to maui 3yrs in a row..1st ther's more to do on maui..better beaches/snorkeling .etc. 2nd ...can't help on timeshare /hotel deals..sorry. never buy retail T/S ..look @ reseller sites for a better price .3rd. you'l lose time flying back east..typicaly takes 2 days 'cause of time diffs and flights don't leave Hawaii till late morning ,11 or so hawaiian time, you'll need to figure that in for total available time. Takes me 2 days to get back to NY..leave Maui around noon ,one day and get back to NY around 11am or much later the next day.i always figure 3 days travel time ..1 day out ..2 days return .i've had best prices using
Expedia.com and booking air/car/hotel package. jeeps are the most expensive rentals. the road to Hana and back is a all day drive..frequent site-seeing stops eats up time. its worth the $20 to buy the Hana CD @ the shell station on Dairy Rd. or any place u find it. the road around the southern tip of isle is closed last i knew(Nov'06) ..drive @ your own risk. the Kihei area is the cheapest area for hotels and has the best beaches. try ..VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner® Vacation Homes Rentals by Owner for any condo rentals available. I've used them b4.
thers some great waterfalls on the BIg isle and the volcano/lave flow is cool @ nite but really not alot to see otherwise ..Most Beaches are rock 'cept for Hapuna beach (sand/best one)and theres the Black sand beach. Maui tops out @ 10,000 ft , bring a warm jacket if u go to the top ...always breezy and downright chilly @ times. I would pass on the sub ride ..pricey and ya don't see alot. the ferry over to the outer isles only takes a hour or two i think ...do a "net search on that. flying inter-isle is expensive..flying to the mainland is cheaper than inter-isle. if you snorkel..probably best to take a snorkel boat..easiest ,faster way to hit the best spots. bring the sunblock lotion ..u'll get burned in a hurry in Hawaii. theres some nice vista's along the northern tip of Maui but the road is 1 car wide and rough. Iao valley is a must see. short drive but breath taking cliffs /walls the 1st time u drive it. helicopter rides is the only way to see the isle interior but weather needs to be favorable .traffic is horrendous @ rush hour too ! good luck , enjoy maui

ps: Maui is small enuf you can stay at 1 hotel or whatever and get around the isle pretty well. Hana drive is the most time consuming due to it's nature of 15 mph max speeds and frequent stops and 617 curves/56 bridges/52 miles. that's a sun-up to sunset drive if you hit all the stops .. theres only 3 routes across the center of the isle Rt.30 /rt.380 /rt311 ..u'll be running them alot. prolly mostly running Rt 311. only takes 1/2 hr or so , to run from one side of isle to other across the "Neck" of the isle. there's driving maps available @ airport , near baggage pick-up areas. along with other brochur.
