We have booked with Bali Hai Villas in Kauai but the reviews I have read are scaring me. We may have options of The Cliffs Club, Lawai Beach Resort, Ka'Eo Kai, Kauai Beach Villas or other spur of the moment rci timeshares. These have to be taken immediately so if anyone can give me any feed back on any or all or if you would stick with Bali Hai. We leave in a week so I am freaking out. Please help because most of the reviews I have seen have not been recent.
    Thanks

I stayed at Ka'Eo Kai, We loved the place. The view was great and the room was great with top brand furnishing. We had a center top floor, I believe I still recall the room # 23c.

I have a review with pics on Vacation and Hotel Reviews, Travel Photos and Pictures, Travel Deals - IgoUgo user name is big_frank

I'm not sure what reviews you've read that have you so scared. Bali Hai Villas is a very fine facility, and all of the others are pretty comparable to BHV. Differences among them are mostly matters of personal preference (north shore vs south shore, proximity to beach, etc.).

If you've been reading reviews from sites such as TripAdvisor, those reviews are notoriously improper for timeshares. Many reviewers compare timeshares to hotels and them complain about check-in procedures, lack of daily maid service, lack of on-site amenities, etc.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Yeah, we own a few Bali Hai weeks, four to be exact. We absolutely love the resort. They are as nice as any we have seen. Ask for a newer unit, because those are extremely nice and have deluxe furnishings. I think the buildings are waaaay too close together, with the units literally surrounding the pool like hands on a clock, surrounding the center of it. Some go in different directions, because those angles get wide, so they have to fill in the space with more units. Not that the units are built in triangles, but you get the picture.

We just did the timeshare tour a little over a month ago. I would recommend keeping your hands on your wallet, as the salespeople are as sleazy as they come. We had Carlos, then we talked to Peter Clark. They either don't know Fairshare Plus Points or they just lie, one or the other.

thanks for the feed back. If it were possible to exchange Bali Hai for one the other rci timeshares, would you do it and which one. It sounds like Big Frank really likes the Ka'Eo Kai one and I would probably change there if possibe but which others?

I am going to move this to the Hawaii forum where you might get the Hawaii experts to ring in.

I have stayed at both Pahio Ka'eo Kai, and Bali Hai. I prefer Bali Hai for the units and the location. Pahio Kai is nice, but older in MHO, and the 2 BR units along the golf course area seem to be held back from exchangers and given to owners, as it should be...so an exchanger will often end up in the older units. They are large, have everything you need, but are sort of dark.

The Bali Hai units worked very well for us, both the one and two Br...but what we really liked about it was the proportion of the unit, it felt more homey, while the Pahio Ka'eo Kai was very large, almost too roomy in fact.

But if you can get either, you can't go wrong with either....we also liked the pools at both of these places.

They are close to one another, so it isn't a question of location helping you decide.

I don't know if this helps, but I would keep the Bali Hai.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.
