  • Wyndham Waikiki

I was able to get a quick 3 night stay in the Wyndham Waikiki for this weekend. I am in unit 908 which is exactly 5 floors above where I stayed last time. I have a couple of things to report.

First, this Beachwalk area is really nice. The restaurants are fantastic, but off the charts expensive as you might imagine. I love what they've done with this location.

Second, I was able to sign up for a broadbank wireless carrier in this unit. It is called Skywave Broadband. 4-days for $19.95. The signal is pretty weak in the unit, so I have my laptop sitting on top of a bar stool next to the slider. My wireless router doesn't pick up the signal from where it is plugged in. I am going to get an extension cord to see if it can pick it up by hanging it from the drapes. Then, I can have wifi in the whole unit.

Third, I am high enough to get an ocean view. It's only a partial view. But, I didn't expect one, so it's cool.

Here are the pictures from the unit:

As you can see, this is where the Trump Condo Hotel is going up. so, this view won't last much longer. I'm lucky I got it now.

That is a great view, Boca!

Is it a Deluxe 2 bedroom you are staying in again? I forgot how many floors are in those buildings. Can you remind me?

You should go and take a peek at the 4 bedroom Presidential model. They were very kind to allow us a look when we were there. There is a 2 bedroom Presidential, too, I think.

Very nice place. We liked it, but it is so busy at Waikiki Beach.

I love the energy of this place.

Shoot. I just looked at my watch. I missed the Moose McGillicutties early bird special.

Is that the restaurant with the great hamburgers, where we met you in May? Great food, ideal location, too.

Boca - I used to live on O'ahu for a number of years. The best breakfasts in the State of Hawaii are at "Eggs n' Things", on Kalakaua and Ena... all I can say is "incredible" !!!! It's about a 10 minute walk from Lewers street. You can ask any local about how to get there. If there is a line, it moves quick and it's worth the wait.

If you don't eat there... then you have missed breakfast!

Jim - if you like steak, they Hy's Steak House on Kuhio Avenue is excellent. One of the most romantic restaurants is Michel's (formely Che Michel) by Diamond Head. For seafood... John Dominis.

The most beautiful scenic drive is from Diamond Head coastal road through Kahala, Hawaii Kai, stop off at Hanauma Bay for a few minutes, continue on past Sandy Beach, past Waimanalo Beach through to Lani Kai, then Kailua keep going towards the North Shore to Wailea Beach Park, then back down the middle of the island towards the south and back into Honolulu.

The Windward side of the Island (East coast) is truly a Hawaii paradise, with the best beaches and blue green swimmable ocean in the whole state.

              Aloha...

While I understand economics, my heart hurts seeing the beautiful scenery of Hawaii and Arizona beling gobbled up by buildings and cement! I also understand progress but that doesn't mean I have to like it! Mahalo for sharing the views from your condo--it was nice to be able to see them before they, too, disappear.

                  Mark,

Okay. We went to Eggs 'n Things for breakfast today since we missed the Moose McGillicutty's early bird breakfast special.

They give you a TON of food. The pancakes were fantastic. I would make one order for every two people. The wait was about 45 minutes. The restaurant holds about 75 people.

Here is a picture of the restaurant and the menu so that you can reminisce.

Yes. I got my wireless router working in the unit. Now I don't have to fight with my kids for the internet.
