Best Time to go to Hawaii

For us retired people, when is the best time to go to Hawaii?

We will be traveling from the Midwest and the Midsouth.

It depends a little with what you like to do. If you think you'd like to take a whale watching trip, then December-March. If you think you'd like to do some snorkling, December-March would probably be the least best time to go. We've been once in May, 3 times in September and have our next trip for mid-June. The tempuratures only vary about 5+/- degrees through out the year, but it seems that the most humid time is September/October. Twice it's been humid to the point that I'd sweat just taking a simple walk, but 2 months ago I didn't notice any humidity. That time of year was primarily for our anniversary. There are various activites throughout the year, which are noted in the Hawaii magazine. I presume there will be more tourists in June, but planned it for then because of the convenience to have our various trips spread out through the year. On our first trip to Maui this year, the ocean had a few days that were very churned up and I love to snorkle. I tried a different location(Napili Bay) and I probably saw more fish than I've ever seen before(more than 2 commercial snorkle trip combined) and had a giant sea turtle come within 3 feet of me, too. DW doesn't care for the snorkling trips, but has gone along with 2 of the trip with friends or family. If you're going to Oahu, there are specific months that the huge 30' waves occur on the north shore. I'm thinking that this also may be March, but could be wrong. If you like the beaches for tanning, you might want to consider having 15-20 tanning solon visits before your trip if you're a bit pale as I am. The sun can be a lot stronger than here on the mainland. Aloha!!! Gary

Use the Extra Vacations and Bonus weeks from all the Exchange Companies and there may even be some great deals on ebay or Sky Auction.

I would think the best time would be when you can get the lowest airfare with the best timeshare exchange availability. I could be wrong but I think that time period is October, November (excluding Thanksgiving week) and the first two weeks in December.

We have been twice in July/early Aug and once in Feb/March. We'd pick the winter trip because of the whales near Maui/Kauai. We found decent snorkeling during that timeframe on the south side of Kauai (Lawai Beach) and south Maui.

The trip from midwest is a pleasant change during the winter months! (But it's a LONG trip whenever you go!)
