  • Fell in Love with OAHU... Wyndham Review

Hi all, right now I am with my husband in Maui and we are wrapping up our honeymoon. We started out with 5 nights on Kauai at the Sheraton in Poipu Beach.. it was very relaxing and beautiful there! We were upgraded to a suite - wow - what a room!!

Next, we were off to Waikiki - at the Wyndham. We thought it was a great city resort! The location is phenominal; the staff is very courteous and professional; and the furnishings and property are pleasant. We were in room 702 - a one-bedroom. This room overlooks Lewers street and has 3 lanai's (one is larger fitting 2 chairs, whereas the other two are smallish with 1 chair and a table, but great for people watching. The kitchen has EVERYTHING -- an oven and stove, a pressure cooker, a rice cooker, a blender, dishwasher, soap, coffee, microwave popcorn... also, there is a washer and dryer in the hallway (which is kind of slow, but better than a communal laundry area!). The bathroom is large with 2 entryways, a stand-up shower and a tub. The suite also has 2 plasma tv's. Also, the rooms on this side have an "afar" view of the ocean. We were able to get wireless in the room (not sure from where, but it was free For a better connection, there is free wireless in the lobby area. The pool was small, probably not the best for kids, but we didn't go in since we spent a lot of time at the beaches.

We drove all around on Oahu to the east and north shore stopping at the beaches and bays for a while along the way.. we ate at Buzz's in Kailua - the food, atmosphere and people were wonderful! We stopped at Romy's shrimp truck on the North Shore after Waimea Bay.. excellent fresh shrimp. Other than that, we ate in Waikiki and loved every place. Roys on Lewers was outstanding! We had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Ruth Chris and that was probably the best dinner we had (prices were great for a big city; we are from ny... maui was more expensive than Waikiki!); we also ate at the Ocean House, the Yard House, Giovanni's (they played the NY Rangers game for us!!).. and there is a Denny's right next door for a late night snack. Also, there is a Coffee Bean shop (good bagels), a Starbucks and an ABC grocery right next door.

OK, this is my first time posting pictures, so I am not sure how they will show up. There are 3 evening shots of the view from room 702; 3 shots of our room, a sunset shot from Waikiki beach, a beautiful picture of Sandy Beach and a sweet dessert that Roy's surprised us with! Let me know if they work...

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
