  • Contact Us: question from agnesm regarding Maui with the Westin

    Hello,

I have a timeshare in Maui with the Westin. I did not bank my week and was told that I have lost it. I did not remember that I had to do this since I only have my timeshare every other year. This is a hugh loss to me of over $5000 dollars. I was wondering if there are others that have had this problem and how they have handled it.

can you tell me how to search your site? Thanks, Agnes

I am assuming that you lost the week for the year because you didn't reserve a week. I don't understand the $ 5,000 cost that you mention. This appears to be a floating EOY (every other year) week and the best way to handle floating week reservations is to reserve a week on the earliest possible day - so mark that on your calendar or place a reminder in your email or home page.
Searching the site is similar to any search engine and the search feature is located in the blue navigation bar just above this post window.

In general, it's the owner's responsibility to reserve or bank their own week. So technically, since you missed the window, you lose . I would value your loss at more like over $2000, since the mf's are a little less than that (I believe-- not sure) and you could have rented the unit for $2000-$2500. (Still a lot of money to lose!)

If I were you, I would call Starwood, ask to speak to a supervisor, and BEG them to assign you one of last year's bulkbanked weeks to deposit into your II account. I don't know if they will do it, or even if there are any of those bulkbanked weeks left. But it's worth a try. Worst they can do is say no and then you're no worse off than you are now.

If they do agree, you will likely end up with something less valuable than your Maui week in your II account (you could end up with spring/fall in Colorado, or November in Broadway Plantation or something), but at least you would have SOMETHING on deposit with II. And IMO, those bulkbanked Starwood weeks pull better than you think they will (I did a late banking of my Vistana week and got a September Broadway Plantation week that pulls more than I thought it would in II). If they do give you something, post again and we'll help you get the best trade possible for it.

      Good luck!
