  • Well, ATA and Aloha may well be picking MY Pockets!!!!

I just received the 1st call from a renter, that is hoping to cancel as ATA folded with their airfare to Hawaii for 10 seats for July

They rented this week from me back in November and they bought their air tix at the same time.

I feel really bad for these folks, and since I have another 60+ weeks for rent in Hawaii yet this year, I am wondering how bad I am screwed????

    Anyway,

    fwiw

I don't think the future will affect you as much as the people that have there tickets booked. What are you going to do about the 10 reservations. IMO if they did not take the insurance it is there lost.

I have asked them what they would like

As under 120 days I only refund 50% of their rental. I have offered to try to find them a replacement renter, and then I would only charge them the cc discounts, ad fees etc off their refund.

They will be getting back to me in the morning, at least that is what she said.

        Greg,

I am thinking about creating a Kamaaina website for discounted Hawaii rentals. Want to put your inventory on it? I'm thinking about making some flyers and having local retailers keep them for me. Just an idea.

Our vacation plans have certainly changed. We will not be going to Hawaii as often due to higher fares and now even more inconvenient service. The airlines we have used the majority of our time in the last five years of travel have been Aloha and ATA. Oh well.....I am glad I always resisted buying a timeshare in Hawaii.

Us too. We planned out trip to Maui for this May '08, last summer. We have now decided that this will be our last trip for a long time due to higher air fare (luckily we got LAX to OGG for $351pp, hoping AA doesn't clse too). Not to mention the rising prices on everything like gas, food, utilities etc. We will just take local trips...

            Good luck on your rentals!!
