  • Leaving for kauai on Sunday

Leaving for Kauai on Sunday for 2 weeks. Going to spend the last 2 days on Oahu so we can go to the PCC. Last trip we had to rush through & didn't get to see eveything.Have pretty well preplanned everything through Pahio.

DD's boyfriend graduates this weekend and is being commissioned as a 2nd Lt. He will be coming out for one week. He has NEVER been on a vacation - can you imagine

    Here is what I have planned for them on Kauai;

Kayaking on Hanalei Bay with Kauai Kayak
    ATV Combo tour with KauaiATV
    Helicopter tour with Safari Helicopter
    Kayaking on the Walia River
    HIVA PASEFIKA LUAU
Lei greeting for BF in HNL

They want to do some hiking, snorkleling and just beach time. Want to see glass beach and Queens bath. There is a Polynesian Festifal the last 2 days we are there.

We are spending one week at Pahio Beach VIllas and one week at Marriott beach Villas.

We will not eat out every meal but plan on hitting Dukes, Gaylord's, Bali Hai,and Barbeque Inn

Any other must do's or not to be missed ? (I have Kauai Underground & Kauai revealed)

Any one else going to be on Kauai??

He's going to have a blast. What a lucky guy to be going on such a fabulous first vacation. Something he'll remember for the rest of his life.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I actually had to stop looking because all these great weeks kept coming up like Hanalei Bay and Shearwater.

The first week we actually have two units - I also have a week at Cliffs resort too. I tried to recoup my costs since SFX allows that but did not have any takers so we will use it as a base when up on the north shore.

It sounds like a fabulous trip. After this, your boyfriend will want to take a yearly vacation and both of you will want to go back to the islands again and again.

Take lots of pictures and try to sit at the window in the helicopter. Kauai is so beautiful but you can see it by hiking too or take a boat trip along the Napili coast. It's fabulous if the sky and water are blue.

Don't let her husband find out about that boyfriend

DD is a photography major so she will take lots and lots of photos.

We did the Holo holo trip to Nihaii the first time we went to Kauai. I though about taking one of the rafts that goes up Napali but DD wants to Kayak as opposed to a raft or sailing. She's not ready for the kayak up Napali coast this trip wants wants to do it next time.

Pat you will love Hawaii - beaches beaches and more beaches. And congrats on #28!!!!

I'd recommend Waimea Canyon, and the national tropical botanical gardens.

I found Grove Farm Plantation interesting and enjoyed the sugar cookies, but it would not be right for people searching for excitement.

Pat, I missed that by reading it too quickly. It is the DD's boyfriend. All I can say now, is have fun, everyone concerned.

Pat, you need to go sooner, now there is so much availability in HI and go again where you like it best of all! Every island is so different....

How do you like this advise to you?

I did not realize there was a coffee plantation on Kauai - I will have to check that out.

I also like the Botanical gardens - I may have to squeeze these in when the kids are off Kayaking. The only tour I am planning to do is the ATV and the Luau. The rest I will have to find some way to occupy myself.

I plan to take lots of books to just sit & relax,

I also have thought about the monastary and the chocolate farm.

What is Grove plantation - a sugar plantation?

I agree with Emmy Pat, you could definitely squeeze a trip in before 2010 - once you go, you will want to go back.

Every time I've visited the coffee plantation I've been pretty disappointed in the coffee.

I always recommend hikes. Probably my favorite easy hike is the Makewehi Cliffs on the south shore. Very easy hiking, beautiful scenery, easy access.

The Koke'e Park hikes are more spectacular; they're also a bit more technical, more isolated, and require a bit of a drive to get to them.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Is "technical" code for being careful so you don't slide off the edge?
