Although my wife has done Koke'e trails in athletic shoes, I recommend hiking boots or shoes. Makewehi, however, can easily be done in walking shoes, athletic shoes, or even a comfortable pair of sandals.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You shouldn't wear that body.”

Thanks for the hiking tips Steve - I made note of some you had mentioned OY.
My only hiking problem is DD had knee surgery in Dec and is still having complications so I have to reign her in and not let her do anything that may agravate her knee. So may of the trails warn - very slippery & hazardous when wet. Maybe we'll have a couple of dry weeks.
Pat
You definitely have TOO MANY weeks planned - I am sure I as well as some others here would be glad to take some of them off your hands

Kauai
We are in Kauai this week at Lawai Beach Resorts. It is really nice. We checked out the Wyndham resorts on Kauai and I know we would have been disappointed if we had to stay at one of them. Bottom line is we were not impressed by what we saw from the outside. I hope your stay at Shearwater will be good.

Kauai To Do's
Some things we did were the Smith Luau, Gaylords for Brunch and the Plantation. One this not to miss is the Na Aina Kai Botanical Garden. We went today and the person who gave us the tour was the founder. It was fantastic. You need to make reservations several days ahead. Take the walk ride tour. Ask if the founder will be leading it. (Joyce D.) I took the Jack Harter helo to Ni Pali tour on the Hughes 500 with the doors off. It was great.

To each their own, I have the opposite opinion of you.
