No - technical means that in places you may have to climb through some rocks using your hands, and that the trail may be slick if wet. There's are also many steep grades in Koke'e park, and many of the trails have elevation changes of more than 1000 feet. If you do something totally stupid, you could go over an edge, but the trails aren't so narrow on the tops of the ridges that you have to tightwalk or anything like that. The narrowest knife top we've been on was still about 20 feet wide.

Although my wife has done Koke'e trails in athletic shoes, I recommend hiking boots or shoes. Makewehi, however, can easily be done in walking shoes, athletic shoes, or even a comfortable pair of sandals.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Thanks for the hiking tips Steve - I made note of some you had mentioned OY.

My only hiking problem is DD had knee surgery in Dec and is still having complications so I have to reign her in and not let her do anything that may agravate her knee. So may of the trails warn - very slippery & hazardous when wet. Maybe we'll have a couple of dry weeks.

You definitely have TOO MANY weeks planned - I am sure I as well as some others here would be glad to take some of them off your hands

We will not eat out every meal but plan on hitting Dukes, Gaylord's, Bali Hai,and Barbeque Inn
Just saw your post and wanted to mention that the Bali Hai Restaurant at Hanalei Bay Resort closed last November, I don't know if it has reopened, but it was still closed a couple of months ago. The bar is still open and serving limited food items and has live music nightly. If the Princeville Hotel has not yet closed for renovations, I recommend Cafe Hanalei. We also like Roy's in Poipu.

Hanalei Gourmet and Hanalei Dolphin are excellent food choices. Bali Hai restaurant is closed. Also your last night there (unless you leave early in the day), try to eat at Duke's for dinner...great food and an awesome view!

We were there for 12 days a week ago, was a blast!

I think its official name is Grove Farm Homestead Museum. It is/was a sugar plantation owned by the Wilcox family. You should call in advance to make reservations for the tour. The tour is relatively inexpensive, about $10 per adult, the tour groups are small, and it takes about two hours to tour several buildings and a portion of the grounds (about 80 acres). Sugar cookies and lemonade are served near the end of the tour. You learn a lot about the history of Kauai and how the Wilcox family lived many years ago.

                Kauai

We are in Kauai this week at Lawai Beach Resorts. It is really nice. We checked out the Wyndham resorts on Kauai and I know we would have been disappointed if we had to stay at one of them. Bottom line is we were not impressed by what we saw from the outside. I hope your stay at Shearwater will be good.

                  Kauai To Do's

Some things we did were the Smith Luau, Gaylords for Brunch and the Plantation. One this not to miss is the Na Aina Kai Botanical Garden. We went today and the person who gave us the tour was the founder. It was fantastic. You need to make reservations several days ahead. Take the walk ride tour. Ask if the founder will be leading it. (Joyce D.) I took the Jack Harter helo to Ni Pali tour on the Hughes 500 with the doors off. It was great.

To each their own, I have the opposite opinion of you.
