Hawaii has always been one of those places and has been even more so over the last 3 months. Just look at the Hawaii in the next 14 days thread in the RCI Exchange Opportunities Forum.

I suggest putting in an on-going with both RCI & II. Forget the Monday check-in, that ain't gonna happen. So the lovely niece will have to check in a day late and pay for one night somewhere.

Have them book a cancellable reservation.

I would bet the ranch a last minute match wil come up.

In the meanwhile I am watching a lot of different places for you as well.

Don't worry. Be happy.

Hi Lawren -- just wanted to give you an update -- I put in the ongoing search yesterday and got a match this morning. I released it though. I thought if I got a match this fast that something bigger would come along. It was a studio unit with partial kitchen -- and I would prefer a 1bdrm with kitchen. The resort was Pahio at Ka'Eo Kai -- reviews were all over the place.

Thanks again for your advice Now, if only my HHI for October would get a match <sigh>.

Debi It's Kauai. That works in your favor. There are more resorts on that island than any other. You'll do fine.

Theory has it if you reject a resort it won't match again. I have no personal data for that but others report it is so.

HHI is coming up short notice. Nice resorts but nothing in October yet. Hang in there kiddo.

I always smile when I hear "we love the south shore!"--our very very favorite is the north shore. WE find the beaches there much less crowded and so much prettier, other find the south shore best--it's great we all find our favorite places even if they aren't all the same. However, winter surf on some north shore beaches can be rough and even deadly at times, even beaches that during the summer are almost flat. From about October to end of March/first of April, I would head to the south shore. Some of the places mentioned are fine. Personally, we find Pono Kai fine (but, please please don't swim there--the east shore beaches are very dangerous year around!) and traffic in front of Pono Kai can be a challenge in leaving the property.
