  • Help pls...niece wants Kauai Feb 2-9

    Hello all,

My niece just emailed me and she and her husband have booked airfare already to Kauai. I have searched II and RCI and have found nothing. They have never been to Kauai and neither have I -- so between us, we know nothing about the Island. So....I have begun to search for rentals but don't know where the best part of the island is to stay. I would like to find something nice for them as this is their first trip alone together -- grandma is watching their baby

Anyways -- anyone on these boards have any recommendations for places? Or, better yet -- does anyone on these boards have anything for rent in Kauai?

Dates are Feb 2-9 -- Monday check-in/out. I don't know if that will be a problem either -- hope not They didn't have much flexibility -- they booked with travel vouchers.

    Thanks in advance.

I think they have made a huge error

Very few timeshare weeks start on Monday, none that I know of on Kauai.

They may be able to find something for rent using vrbo,

North Kauai Vacation Rentals - VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner North Kauai - North Kauai Hotels, North Kauai Lodging, North Kauai Travel and Tourism

South Kauai Vacation Rentals - VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner South Kauai - South Kauai Hotels, South Kauai Lodging, South Kauai Travel and Tourism

but Feb is prime whale season, don't expect it to be cheap.

I wish I had better news.

      South side is our favorite

We like the South side, the Poipu area the best. We have successfully rented there using VRBO but the place we stayed is already booked for those dates.

Here is one near Anni beach

that sounds pretty good for around $875 for the week, and they show open space.

AAA does rentals at Pono Kai, a nice centrally located resort. We've rented through VRBI there also. You still may find some exchanges popping up for February as people cancel due to high airfares, etc. but you will find none with a Monday check-in. Check with TPI and HTSE for rentals & exchanges also. Lawaii Beach resort is in Poipu and is managed by HTSE.

Along those lines, I have had a Feb 2009 search going in RCI for Hawaii for 8 months now and after nothing for a very long time, I have been offered two very nice resorts in Princeville on consecutive days. We are holding out for Poipu or somewhere on Maui, though. If you have an RCI week that will pull Hawaii in February, you should get that search started now...

Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at the places that are mentioned. My RCI trader is crappy -- it rarely pulls anything that I see in the sightings -- but maybe I'll give it a whirl. The problem is the Monday to Monday thing too though. But, anyways -- thank you all for the suggestions -- keep 'em coming!!

                Thanks,

I doubt my week will pull anything -- but I'll keep looking. Do you have a good trader for your search? Did you get your offers recently?

Monday Check In - using VI

We can check in anyday with Vacation Internationale - the two resorts we have for VI on Kauai are Pono Kai & Kapaa Shore. Our Pono Kai unit managed by Blue Green only allows check in on Wednesday or Saturday. The other posters are correct that most resorts do not have Monday check in.

If your niece is able to book with points like VI or Marriott etc then any day is open to check in.

That sounds good -- any points owners on these boards that are looking to rent out points?

                      Thanks

Nothing for me -- I just looked again. Well........if you ever have too many weeks, and you'd like to "share" one of your many .... and ..- if it pulls Kauai, please msg me. I'd appreciate it.

                          Thanks!

We definitely have excess points. I posted another message earlier today about our Hawaii options for 2009/2010 winter season here; http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...il-2010-a.html

                              Your right,

Vacation Internationale resorts can start any day of the week, except there is no availability at either Kapaa Shores or the Pono Kai for the dates the op requested through VI( I checked prior to my posting VRBO rentals)

                              fwiw,

                              Greg
