Getting to Hawaii from New York

Are there any direct flights ferom New york to any of the Hawaiian Islands? I seems so long to get there. I would have thought by now there would be some non-stop flights. If there are not any direct flights, what is the best way to get there? Do most people do a night layover either getting there or getting back home?

We go nonstop from Newark to Honolulu...10.5 hours. Works.

Thanks. I am going to start keeping my eye on airfares so I can see what the fares might be for July 2007. I should probably book 331 days out. Or, am I wrong?

Anne-Marie, we also are going from Newark nonstop to Honolulu. We booked our tickets 330 days out and got a total price of $625 each.

Its up a couple of hundred now.
