  • Sunterra family branding initiative

While this isn't unexpected, it isn't clear why Sunterra would think that it has anything to live up to the Embassy name (which would explain why Hilton would want to discontinue the use of the Embassy Vacation Resort brand.
However, the resort is certainly more upscale now than it ever has been:clap:

    Dear Valued Owner Families,

It is with great excitement that Sunterra recognizes your premier resort destination as one of our flagship properties. On behalf of Sunterra, I am very proud of the Sunterra brand and look forward to the much anticipated renaming and branding of our prestigious properties in Lake Tahoe, Maui, Kauai and Orlando.

These resorts and our owner families have always been an important component of the Sunterra family and this re-branding initiative will put the Sunterra name on the forefront of these four flagship properties which will enhance and fortify the continued growth of the Sunterra brand and brand values with an emphasis on quality and a commitment to offering flexible vacation ownership opportunities to our existing customers as well as our future customers.

This initiative is a result of the mutual agreement between Hilton Hotels Corporation and Sunterra Corporation to discontinue the use of the Embassy Vacation Resort brand, providing existing Sunterra management and ownership of the properties with unity and brand synergy.

In an effort to provide you with the most up-to-date information regarding this re-branding initiative, we have set aside this special 'web-place' for you so that you may find the most relevant information regarding your resort. I would like to lay emphasis on, however, our commitment to providing you with the highest level of quality standards and hospitality service and hope to provide you with a seamless brand transition. Your property use will not be affected, nor will your ability to make reservations or how your current payments and billings are processed. The only changes that you will experience include new signage and guest check-in materials.

I invite you to review the information included within this web-place for relevant information pertaining to your specific resort location as we've included recently mailed letters and have also compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) in anticipation of your concerns.

Normally, in a situation as this, I would welcome all of you to the Sunterra family, but you are already a part of our ever-expanding family and at this time, I wish to extend my sincere gratitude, as I am delighted to position your premier resort destination as a Sunterra flagship property.

    As always,
    Nick Benson

I don't understand: Are you saying that Sunterra doesn't have anything to live up to?

An Embassy is an Embassy, but what is a Sunterra

Sunterra just doesn't have the necessarily have the best things come to mind. The last couple of years things for Sunterra have been looking up. And, the resort has been in much better shape after Sunterra took full control of the resort that it has ever been.
Embassy just brings a certain expectation and reputation with it. When you walk into an Embassy, it feels like an Embassy. Sunterra resorts are sort of all over the map. So far, we have been happy with Sunterra running the resort, and have been happy with ClubSun. However, One of the appealing qualities of the resort is that is was and Embassy – and all of the things that come along with it as being such

You can say that again. When I first saw your thread title I envisioned a pile of hot coals with "S" irons laying in it whereupon people would be marked so they could use the pool.
Forgive my silliness and OT. Not much would really surprise me in TSing these days.

It's getting harder all the time to know what country I'm in.

            Impacts

It will be interesting to see if Sunterra is now at the point to start rolling older owners into the SunOption program without having to buy another week...

The biggest inpact is likely to be owners that choose to rent their weeks out. Without the Embassy name, can a rack rate of $600/night be maintained for a DOV unit

Actually, Sunterra has more things they need to live down.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

              “You shouldn't wear that body.”
