  • A Maui Encore

Last night, we were at the airport to go home when they asked for volunteers to take a flight home tomorrow and offered a voucher for $600 pp plus a night stay at the Grand Wailea Resort with taxi fare to and from the airport. Not too shabby. This is a very nice hotel in Wailea.

We have been in Maui over a month and I am already looking forward to coming back next year. We met several TUGgers while we were here. We met Boca and his parents in Honolulu and we met Denise L, borntotravel and SO, LAX Mom, son and friends and readyalready and Winger and his family too in Maui. I know that several of them are members here too. I would have to look up their user names as I don't know them all. It was fun to meet everyone.

So, are you typing this from the Grand Wailea?

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

        Very nice.

Lucky you! I would have taken the flight vouchers, without a hotel. Throw in the Grand Wailea and I would fly home via Australia, if necessary!

Yes, we took the bump and we treated ourselves on a very nice brunch.

They offered an even more generous voucher last night ($800 pp) but My SO wanted to go home as his medication was in the luggage. I won't do that again. I will post some pictures later.

                  Yeah Emmy, way to go!
Now we will all try and remember to pack medications in our carry-on "just in case"!

A less positive travel tale.... high school students from my kid's school were to return last night from Spain to Saskatchewan (via London and Toronto). Due to a flight delay, they missed their connections, so apparently there are 60 of them stranded in Toronto. Last I heard the plan is to bus them from Calgary (8 hours).
I am so glad mine returned safely the night before!

Emmy, that's great!! I always try to get a better hotel on a bump than the usual airport places, but the Grand Wailea, that's really something!! I still can't believe you got to spend a MONTH on Maui. What a perfect way to end it

Happymum, I'm glad they're young, it'll be remembered as an adventure
