Visiting Marriott’s Ko Olina

Hello, I was able to get a trade via II for a Studio at Marriott’s Ko Olina. I had a question on parking. Will I be considered an owner or a renter for parking rates? I would guess a renter but was looking for more insight.

I'll bump this thread for you because I'm wondering the same thing. I've got a studio exchange, too, for my nephew's honeymoon. I was wondering about the parking costs and also if there's a daily occupancy tax charge, too?

Parking and tax at Ko Olina

Unless you use the valet the parking is free.
Tax on a studio is about $45 for the week if I recall correctly but could be less certainly not more.

As Tabbyc said, self parking is free. We are here now on a II exchange into a 2 bedroom. I will try to report after I check out next week and know what the taxes are.

I am in the new building on the 6th floor with a nice Ocean view. 2 bedroom nonlock off. Our preview is Tuesday so I will have more info later.

We are doing a full week of the David Wicker wellness program and golfing 3 times. I realized this morning that my right shoulder is starting to go through the same cycle headed toward locking up just like my left on did about 4 years ago. I really need to keep theses shoulder workouts going when I get home.

That is great news thank you. Another advantage of being a TS owner. Hopefully I can get a nice view but if not we will survive. We won't be in the room that often.

How was your trip? Any tips to pass on? I'm up in the air on whether to get a car or not. If there is a rental place nearby than I will just wait until after we check in, otherwise Im not positive if we will need one the whole time.

Would you recommend it for an older group (three 80 yr olds) wanting to see the sights (def pearl harbor) and spend some time around honolulu too? Would be end of April so likely past most spring breaks and before school lets out...

Another thought is to call the resort directly and ask about the type of tours they offer for you to decide if they are 'age appropriate' for your group.

If they are doing tours, it should not matter if they are 20 minutes or 40 minutes away.

I've also got a two-bedroom unit for New Year's Week 2011. Now I'm getting pushed (a bit) into marriage out at West Beach and using it afterwards for a honeymoon. Regardless of whether that happens, New Year's on Oahu is always fun.

We were there 21 Jan - 5 Feb 2010. Self Parking was free for Ko Olina owners AND timeshare exchangers. Or maybe because we own at another Marriott. But I was told by a manager that RENTERS (people who rent nightly etc) pay for self parking. Their website quoted about $30 per day for parking. We needed to use our room key to exit the parking garage.

Of course the above information could change and their could be other exceptions.

We would recommend going through the tour desk at the resort. Honolulu has highways and traffic jams while the north side is lush and beautiful. If you have not visited Oahu in a while, you would want to experience all of it.
