We've got our airline tkts for next year to HNL (1st class FF ) We are looking for three weeks; from last week of Feb 2011 thru second week of March, We own a week at KCR 2 so that week is taken care of.

Looking for 2 weeks before our KCR week,. Currently waiting on II to come up with something. In the past, using a couple of Marriott weeks with the 24 day priority, got us into one of the 4 Marriott properties--no problem. So far, no joy, don't know if the new points roll out is holding things up. May have to use MRPs as the time runs out, or look at B&Bs or getaways or some combination thereof.

Which Island are you looking for? Have you considered renting a week? We rented a 2 BR, 2BA, deluxe unit at the Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk on Oahu for a very reasonable rate. If you are interested in renting, check out MyResortNetwork.com. There are no fees and they have a lot of rentals.

Have never been, not sure if it's a trip I want to take. The Caribbean is so close for us and Hawaii would be a long day's journey, one day out, one day back...for a week, that leaves 5 days to relax and enjoy. Doesn't seem long enough. California didn't seem very interesting to us either, but once we went there, we loved it, so maybe someday we'll get to Hawaii.

I've been to Hawaii once, on a cruise ship where we visited the 4 main islands, almost 15 years ago. As of last month, I own a 2 bedroom TS on the Big Island so I'm looking forward to visiting more.

                In Hawaii right now

I have lost count how many times I have been to Hawaii. Each island is different and I prefer Kauai. Took a walk this morning in Kapaa and am still mesmerized by the color, weather and the people. Come back at least once a year and just try to relax. I have done most things that I want to do and just consider it R & R.

                      • I was born and raised in Hawaii. In fact I still live on Oahu. So have been to Hawaii many times and live here. I own timeshares in Hawaii since I believe in buying where I want to stay and not depend on exchanges. I hate to exchange since my maint. fees are so much higher than comps from the mainland US.

                          • Been twice, and will definitely go back, just not every year. It is a long way from the East coast!

                            • We have been to both Hawaii (Honeymoon and many times since) and to St. Maarten. The trip to St. Maarten was the first year after purchasing in Maui. The flight to the Caribbean was way too long for us West Coasters, drive 3 hours to Burbank, fly to New York, San Juan, and an island hopper to St. Maarten. We really enjoyed the food and shopping and I think that the water was even more clear than Hawaii. I really feel more comfortable in Maui or Kauai.

Me too. An acquaintance invited me to Maui. He was paying the condo rental fee and I paid the rental car/gas and some food. That part worked out ok. Beaches were tiny splotches of sand between lava flows (ok, there were a couple of larger beaches - and I *did* enjoy 'Little Beach' [if you don't know, don't ask ]). Just way too sleepy for me. Would be good if I played golf, but I don't.
