I'm a "d" also. First trip was in 1977 and my Hubby had to drag me. I figured it would be just like a trip to SoCal touristy beach place and had no big desire to go. Boy, was I wrong. We have gone almost every year since then. Although it has changed a great deal over the decades, it is still paradise to me and I plan to go as often as I can.

I tried Mexico as an alternative one year. Didn't do it for me at all.

I loved the Hawaii of my youth and still dream of it. It's different when I go back now, good, but to me, not the same. In my case, Tom Wolfe was right.

I lived there as a child (Dad was USAF) and can remember about 8-10 hotels in Waikiki.

I lived in Waikiki as a young single in the '70s before the H2 Freeway went in. Party !!!

Lived on the North Shore and outer islands, too. Worked for the Bank of Hawaii while attending the U of H Manoa, waitressed at the Royal Hawaiian, flew for PanAm.

Been once. I'll likely return some day, but it's not on my "A list" of places to go. Give me snow capped peaks, crystal clear alpine lakes, 200' pines and fresh air any time.

Been there twice. It's been nearly 20 years and I'd love to go back. Can't convince my DH to take to VERY long plane ride. Our last trip from Maui to Phila took a day and a half with a five hour unscheduled layover in San Fran at 1:00 in the morning. There weren't even any coffee shops open then. With airline service even worse these days, I can't even begin to imagine what the air travel would be like.

You left one choice out - Been and don't plan to go back. That's me.

Been once, will probably go back, but probably to a different island. It'll also probably be a few years. Kids are too small at this point. Easier places to travel to with little ones (cheaper too).

Been to Hawaii so many times that you have lost count. I have been going to the way since 1971 and on some years we have been going there as many as three times a year and plan on going there a lot more.

I've been a handful of times. I can count them. Took a couple of years "off" and saw other places. Returning next year. Oahu and BI. Never been to the BI. I'm excited!

I have been, but not enough to lose count. I'm gonna have to work on that!

We've been there 6 times - bought our first timeshare there. We went this year in April, and decided that it would be our last time.

We like Mexico better as it is cheaper, less time on a plane, and the time zones are the same.

My most memorable trip was taking a girlfriend for the weekend , as a surprise for her 40th birthday!

I've never been......I almost made it there, tho. I had a fabulous trip planned to the various islands, but needed to cancel due to my DD's work schedule. Not fun!

One of these days I'll get there!
