We have never been but are going in April for 18 days. I go to St. Maarten every year and am very worried that I won't like Hawaii as much. My DH and 2 friends talked me into trying something new. I will certainly miss all the gorgeous beaches, crystal clear water, and great food St. Maarten has. (not to leave out the great jewelry buys). So, booked first class airline tickets to Hawaii on Continental to make me feel better about not going to St. Maarten!

Hmmm. That might be a bad comparison for me. I have been to Bismark and have never been to NYC. I really don't want to go to NYC.
Okay, lets say North Dakota vs Florida. Very few people make vacation plans to go to North Dakota. They know they like Florida better, or maybe even Iowa. It is a Minnesota thing.Don

Now, one reason we go back relatively often is that we're on the west coast. It's an easier trip for us than for those in the middle of the country or on the east coast. Owning a timeshare on Maui insured that we went back every summer for quite a few years. We got hooked.Luanne

I agree that it is the feel of the place. Just hearing Hawaiian music or smelling a plumeria puts me in a happy mood about Hawaii. The warmth of the people who live there, the historic culture, the different environments and landscapes of each island (been to the majors except Molokai) all make me want to return again and again.
We are really into music and have a pretty large collection of Hawaiian music. Just when I think "enough" I go on iTunes and find something else I love and have to have.
I've been to other places with beautiful beaches (like Mexico and the Caribbean) but none of them draw me in the way Hawaii does. If you feel that then you understand, if you feel that about other special places around the globe I understand that too. I cry whenever the plane takes off over Diamond Head on our return trip home and look forward to returning. Timesharing has made that easier for us .

Never been there, and it's just such a long, looooong flight from the Northeast....
We have a good friend who is Hawaiian, and she owns a house in a little tiny town there. She flies over about once every two months and she invites me to come along every time she goes, but I just can't commit. Maybe in the next couple of years I'll work it out so I can go along.

never been, would like to go, was going to go next year for 30th anniversary trip but opted for a transatlantic cruise instead....
I am also a lover of the Caribbean - Aruba, St Thomas, Grand Cayman - with my various ownerships I can go there 8 weeks a year

We have been to Hawaii six times and had last May canceled to Maui because the airline went out of business and set second air and they went out too!
Spent nine days in Kauai when our daughter's sixteen and under fast pitch softball travel team played in a eigthteen and under tournament.
