  • II Get Away TS Costs

I have just contracted to purchase a TS in Hawaii primarily with the purpose of exchanging into Interval International. I'm new to this so need all the help I can get. Since I'm not a member of II at this point, I can't view cost details. I'd like to hear from others with experience on the ability to purchase additional time with II TS's that are available to rent. Since I would only have one week to exchange, I would like to take advantage of additional weeks. I've been reviewing online costs of just renting TS's vs purchasing/exchange - you can probably find 2/2 for $1500+ during a desirable time. The cost is less than I'd pay for a hotel, but not necessarily significantly less. The TS benefit is you have a kitchen and laundry facilities, which does eliminate 3 meals a day in a restaurant. Can someone tell me a range of what II charges for buying additional time for quick get aways or scheduling out later in the year. Any help would really be appreciated because I'm still trying to figure out whether buying a TS just to get the advantage of II is worth my dollars. Bottom line, do I really save on TS rentals being in the II network? And how much do you save?

What are your annual maintenance fees? I don't own a Hawaii unit, but I suspect your fees are higher than those you could find in other places. Buying to exchange can be a bad idea (though I've done it with some success) and if your costs are already high, not a good plan.

Thanks Sheila. I have given a great deal of thought to finalizing this contract and have chosen to cancel. I had comments from many that Kauai has trading power, but unless you really plan on going to that island and are willing to pay high MF's, its not the best thing to do. But now realize I can find a ts in a location that I would actually be willing to go to on a consistent basis (1 or 2 day driving distance) and trade if the year doesn't work out without paying $1500 in MF's. Wish I had been in the TS Forum prior to making a decision concerning purchasing a TS.

Hang around and you will learn a ton

I think you made the right decision. I am currently dealing with a Kauai Beach Club property that I can't use and am having difficulty renting, for Christmas no less. I don't want to exchange it in II for the exact reason stated. TOO HIGH a maintenance cost. I am actually looking to let my II membership lapse.

Keep up with the reading here on TS4Ms and on TUG and in no time you will be making your first purchase.

        Welcome to TS4Ms.
