  • Disappointed at Wyndham Kingsgate

We are used to a whirlpool tub and full kitchen for Deluxe with Wyndham.

Just returned from Kingsgate. I found that having a reservation for a 1 BR deluxe doesn't mean much with that resort. They issued 39-101B (a handicap unit). Asked for anything resembling a Deluxe... was reassigned 24-101B.

Both units had mini kitchen, NO whirlpool tub and queen sized bed.
I was informed that Kingsgate and Patriots Place no longer have whirlpool tubs in any of their units. The dif of 1BR reg and deluxe is size and they were out of the larger.

We had a 10' kitchen wall. . . small frig, small dishwasher, wetbar sink, wetbar sink, 2-burner ceramic over a drawer stack.

There were cube trays to fill rather than an ice maker.
The light under the microwave did light the two burner range top.

Mixing bowls were in cabinet over the fridge (A step stool was upside down on the top shelf of the entry closet). At that same height was a 2-door cabinet for glassware and dishes. Behind one door: glasses (juice, wine, water) and coffee cups stacked up on top each other. Behind the other door: dinner plates, small plates, sausers and bowls... All in a single stack.

Cookware occupied another higher yet upper, above the microwave.

Coffee pot and toaster occupied what countertop there was between the fridg and sink.
Blender was housed under the sink.

The sofa bed was good for sitting, not for sleeping (the old bar-in-back type).

There was no pancake turner. Maintenance brought us a spatula (plastic.. for scraping bowls). Claimed they had nothing for turning eggs.

This reservation was secured using points left from 2009 coupled with some borrowed from 2010. I contected Wyndham Vacation Resorts hoping for something nice. The alternative to what was offered, cancellation whereby we would lose our points. We are disappointed, but made do.

Sounds like you were roughing it.

Please don't tell me there was only 1 TV in the room?

That would have been it for me.

Sorry you had such disappointing accommodations. I know that a great "home base" can really set the mood for your vacation! Hope you enjoyed your away time together though!

There were TVs in LR and bedroom, so I got to watch football.

We reside at Yorktown, 25 minute from Kingsgate. Just wanted to get away and use up the 2009 points. Borrowed enough to make a 2 night stay.

Spouting off makes me feel better.

Plus, everyone needs to know that not all Wyndhams treat you right.

We took lunch at Cracker Barrel then checked in.

Set up the pc to input floppy disk. Once all are in the pc, I'll transfer the old stuff to my new pc and scrap the floppies.

Relaxed til 6 doing floppies and watching TV with Caroll.

Went to Berret's for a Riesling and appetizer of calamari, crab cake balls and bacon wrapped shrimp prior to the 7:45 seating at Kimball Theatre.

        Seen "Social Security"!

Shopped Blooms for breakfast fixins and trays of fruits and snacks to go with wine for the 31st.

        Got up around 9.
Fixed coffee, OJ, fried ham/eggs, fruit bowl and toast. (without a turner)

Spent the day being lazy, relaxing and watching TV.
        Hey, it was freezing outside.
Snacked salami, cheese and crackers, olives. Melons, grapes and pineapple.
        Goes good with Riesling.

Finally got dressed and drove over to The Library. Caroll had a good hamburger, I ordered the nachos. Sat and chatted then went back to unit for the year end/start.

        Happy New Year

Robert, have you made your anniversary trip reservations already or not yet?

We have not decided on any particular celibration trip. So far thinking of taking the whole year for trips.

Went three weeks to Traverse Bay region of Michigan. Came home via Nashville. Got back from a three-week trip to Florida.

We have ten deposits with RCI besides our Wyndham points.

We had thought we would like to go to Maui two weeks in March followed by two more on Kauai.
That would take a lot of luck in planning at this late date.
The auto rentals and flight fares are not being kind.
The flight hours are against us regarding health issues.

We may go to Caribbean Islands but need to renew passports, so that will be later in the year, if we do that.

To answer you, we have no plans set. We may just jump around the country. There's a lot of nice places to spend time together.

2010 will be OUR year no matter where we are.

The 1 bedroom units at Kingsgate are not up to Deluxe level IMO. We always get at least the 2 Bedroom to experience Kingsgate as it is meant to be. Overall Studio & 1 bedroom units tend to disappoint us and are not why we bought into timesahre. Too much like a motel room.
