The building and grounds are beautifully new, wedged brtween the street and the boardwalk. The lobby and common areas are classy.
The Bell helped get our bags to our room. We elected valet parking so were in our room in a matter of minutes.
We had 14th floor dead center ocean side. Here's the view out from the BR.
A one-bedroom suite with ocean view and a small balcony.
The living room and dining areas were adequate for two and the furniture quite comfortable...the plasma TV affixed to the wall was very nice but mounted 2' above our eye level while seated.
From kitchen ... Mirrored wall with drapes open:
Drapes closed:
Bedroom off living room:
The bathroom joined the kitchen and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and more than adequate.
Good morning Caroll... Coffee good?
The tub had no towel or hand bars. The double vanity had an 18" bar at one end. The toilet pressure-flush was scarily loud.
Bath sinks
Bathroom floor tile was cold… no rugs. Used towels.
We enjoyed the jetted tub by Jacuzzi and the Bath & Body Works soaps, shampoo and lotion the resort provided - a very nice touch! They were generous with the towels.
The bedroom had more than enough clothes-storage space. We are used to a king bed but their queen bed was very comfortable. There was a safe provided in the closet (they charge you $1/day whether you use it or not).
Clothes unit. Here's a look out to entry area.
Bedroom Art
BR closet and looking to the bathroom.
Having a full kitchen was great. We were able to prepare breakfast and lunch each day. We stayed in but for evening meals. After check in, we made up drinks, ate chips and dip and later on we made up a sandwich to split.
OBC is located convenient to an uncountable amount of restaurants, both right there on "the strip" and then many a bit further out.
We traveled the length of the strip to Waterman's Beachwood Grille. http://www.watermans.com/
DELICIOUS...is all I have to say!
Another evening it was to Rockefeller's on Rudee Inlet. http://www.rockafellers.com/
Had an excellent seafood platter... Pricey as expected, but worth EVERY DIME!
One night we wanted a burger. Went to Mary’s Restaurant early, around 5, only to find they are open from 6AM till 3PM. Wound up at Abbey Road Pub & Restaurant on 22nd Street. http://www.abbeyroadpub.com/
A clean, family-friendly environment. Really good down home service. A "middle of the road," more "economical" restaurant. I noticed the menu features home cooked food (pork chops, ribs, BBQ chicken), sides like black-eyed peas, candied yams, collard greens, cornbread, great homemade cakes…
This shot is from the bacony outside the bedroom.
"The boardwalk" is right there and CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like the beach.
We were extremely pleased with the overall cleanliness. Everyone was pleasant. We paid for valet service ($5/day) and room safe ($1). The parking garage is close, if you don't wish to pay.
The view we had was as good as it gets. We both wished we could have stayed longer. I would recommend this resort, if going to Virginia Beach.
Be aware the ocean view automatically comes with bright morning sun. I stuffed towels and clipped the drapes together, but the room is not dark for sleeping after sunrise.
There is a $4.95 charge for Internet service. A $1.00 per 3 minutes of a local call. Good grief.
The laundry area is on the 14th floor. It costs $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry. We weren’t there long enough to need it.
The weather negated wanting to use the cold pool. The Tiki Bar - closed.
Hey, it’s Winter. Much wind. Mid 30s - evenings. Here's looking North:
The beach was only steps away, but this time of year there were no chairs, lounges, umbrellas or cabanas. Folk walking the Boardwalk were in overcoats and wore headgear.
Liked — Virginia Beach was not bustling! Not far from Yorktown.
Had time for relaxing!
Visit was for: Quality time with wife - away from family.
Age group: 68-71.
My rating for this hotel is: 8 of a 10 as there's no grounds.
Not meaning to preach Negatives… just telling it as I see it. We are spoiled.
Hopefully, they'll wake up and offer free Internet, especially in winter.
Enjoyed our stay!
