  • Shawnee real estate sales

We are looking at a possible vacation home purchase and I noticed several condos/townhomes for sale in the Shawnee on the Delaware area. The indoor and outdoor pics look almost exactly like the units owned by Wyndham. Does anyone know if Wyndham sold off some of the TS? Three of the "homes" are located on Hollow Rd. If anyone is familiar with this area, I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

One of the sections of Shawnee was also sold as condos--it's called Northslope. And there is a Hollow Road down there.

Northslope units (and the older parts of Shawnee) were sold long before Wyndham bought Shawnee. They only took over about five or six years ago.

Pat H. might have more info for you; she lives in the Poconos.

Let me know what she says--I've never been able to sort out the whole situation out there. Are you looking at other places in the Poconos? We've flirted with buying a vacation house there over the years, because we love to go there.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about that area or the condos. I think it's a nice area especially along River Road. One area I don't like is the Mt. Pocono area. Too many problems up there.

We used an II getaway to stay at Shawnee for two weeks a little while ago. That's what sparked the interest. It was fairly central to lots of things in the Poconos and only about an hour away from home. The condos that I am looking at are at the northern end of Shawnee, close to the Ski area. They are off of River Rd. From what I can see from some of the maps of the area, at least parts of River Rd are closed during the winter. However, there has to be access to the Ski area. So my guess is that they take drivers in from the North. I've looked at other areas of the Poconos. The units at Camelback are a little pricier, but much nicer than those in Shawnee on Delaware. My biggest concern with the Camelback site is the traffic. The roads in that area are extremely congested. Shawnee is really easy to get to. One comment that I saw on another site is that people shouldn't buy anything that's close to the river because there has been major flooding in the area in the past.

Yes, that's true about the flooding, especially in recent years. The Shawnee Inn is right by the river, and when we were there a few years back, they had photos of a major flood where the water had come way, way up and had caused a lot of damage to the inn and the golf course. But from what I remember, Northslope isn't really near the river.

There used to be a woman who posted here named Theresa? I think? She was a saleswoman at Shawnee before Wyndham took it over. Frank might know her e-mail address. I remember her being very nice and helpful.

The units I am looking at are near the Ski area - so I think they are far enough from the river that it wouldn't be a problem.
