  • SilverWoods or Wolf Run Manor at Treasure Lake?

So my summer has been thrown for a loop and i'm grasping for any signs of vacation i can get....

My daughters grandparents have decided that they'd like to take her to the Rodeo that the (far removed)family runs every year close to Far Western PA, this is a three day event around the 4th of July(not sure the exact date yet), i won't be going(her mothers parents are taking her), but i'm trying to make the best of it....

I figure, why not find a place close to the rodeo so i can help break up the nearly 9hr drive for her and get a nice vacation out of it...

It looks like Silverwoods and Wolf Run Manor are both available during that time frame and are around the right location....I've read alot of reviews that both of these places are VERY run down...

Do you have any experience with either of these places? Which one would you go to in early july?

      Save your money

I see these come up frequently as Hot Weeks with BlueGreen, and unless I was already in the area and had nothing better to do I would probably stay home.

They both are not great resort wise. The style is pretty old. The equipment are very old too.

The area is quite, the nearest town is where groundhog phil stay, and very small but nice town. The resort belongs to another bigger commuity and has 2 or 3 man made lakes there. Not big, but enough with some beaches, and maybe 30 min drive around the lake.

SilverWood is close to a ski slop, it looks like is a easy slop.

I stayed in Wolf Run last summer.

They are both within the same gated community. Silverwoods is just higher up the hill.

They are older units but for the most part weren't horrible.
I'm not extremely fussy so for someone else this may not be okay.

I had 2 teenagers and my granddaughters (3 and 4) wtih me and we enjoyed the week.

We did have to travel for any site seeing or activities. The beach is small but was not full at all.

The pool was very run down and the kids did not go in it. We went to the beach instead.

Things I did in the area:
          1) Delgrossos amussement park - Not a huge park but the kids had a good time.
          2) Bilgers Rocks -
          3) Penn's Cave

I also was considering one of these resorts to visit a friend that lives nearby. After reading reviews, etc. I decided not to get them. Will visit friend another time.

I stayed with a friend in Silverwoods. We went there because she had bought some property on Treasure Lake so we were there to check that out. We really liked the area a lot. We arrived on the 4th of July, in the evening, and were there just in time to see the fireworks on the lake. There are some very beautiful homes around the lake.

The timeshare looked better on the outside than it actually was on the inside. Inside was adequate, but really needed to be completely re-done and re-furnished. It had the feel of an old family cabin in the mountains. We used it as a base and did 3 day trips that were 2-3 hours away. One to Amish country, one to Niagara Falls, and a third day trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water. We really enjoyed our stay there, even though it was rundown.
