  • At Mariott Manor Club

Hi all! We are at Manor Club this week. If you have any questions or you would like me to check anything, just let me know.

We are staying on the second floor at the Berkeley building, and I must say the unit is very impressive.

    Enjoy your stay!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We had lunch yesterday at Food for Thought. The food was terrific, service less so. The appetizer we ordered never was brought, and I ordered a second beverage when our food arrived and that was never brought. They comped the second beer and gave us a coupon for a free appetizer, so we'll probably go back later this week. The crab cake I had may very well be the best I've ever eaten though.

We got a call at 10:00 last night though; apparently water was leaking from our unit down to the first floor, because the air conditioning drain pipe was plugged. Maintenance cam and fixed it, replaced the pool towels we used sopping it up, and brought a fan to dry the carpet. Today we noticed the carpet wasn't drying, and opened the closet to see a bunch a water again. Another call to maintenance and a visit to unplug it again - I hope for the last time this week!

There's some nice flower plantings out front, and our living room/2nd bedroom look out on the tee box which is nicely done.

I heard the wine and cheese tasting was great, but we missed it. I did the beer tasting last night, but didn't particularly care for any of them.

Red, Hot and Blue was some pretty good barbecue, and not too pricey (although I'm spoiled since I work next to the actual Famous Dave's restaurant he opened before he sold the recipe and name to Kraft). We are going to hit Food For Thought again on Friday, as we all liked it immensely - as I said before, the crab cakes are the best I've had.

Weather has been great all week, other than a scattered shower yesterday when we were at Jamestowne. We were at Busch Gardens today, and I don't think we waited more than 15 minutes for anything.

If anyone is going to be in the area, we have a card for a free appetizer at Food For Thought, but we never made it back there during the week. I'll be glad to drop it in the mail to the first person to PM me their address.
