  • Washington, DC

I noticed that a couple of Guests were looking at some old threads about timeshares in the Washington, DC area, so I know there is some interest, albeit quiet, on that topic. Actually, being the area of history and importance that it is, Washington, DC timeshare(s) has/have been a topic of occasional interest over the years.

Anyway, it reminded me that some resort not actually in Washington, DC recently had an ad in Endless Vacation.

Sure enough, on Page 85 of the September, 2014, issue, Vacation Village has an ad for their Presidential Resort at Chancellorsville. It says the resort "abuts" Civil War battlefields. It says the Amtrak station is 11 miles away and the trip to Washington, DC is 62 miles.

The trip, by the way, is "stress-free."

This is not the only resort that is nearby. I ended up booking a 2 bedroom unit for July 2016 at Skyline Ranch Resort(#3997). It is approximately 1 hour outside of DC from what I recall.

I have stayed at the Presidential Resort at Chancellorsville and the property does indeed abut a Civil War battlefield. It's in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I imagine the Amtrak train to DC from there would be stress-free.

We took a 3 day tour of Washington DC from Manhattan. The tour was excellent and quite reasonable. It included accommodations in Washington DC.

You can also book Wyndham Old Town Alexandria (very popular) http://www.extraholidays.com/washing...lexandria.aspx or Wyndham National Harbor (more availability) http://www.extraholidays.com/washing...bor-resortthru thru RCI.
Or do a direct exchange with a Wyndham owner.

I have stayed at OTA and it is an excellent location across the road from a Metro station….National Harbor is in a complex right on the river but you need to take a bus to the metro.

Did you travel by bus or train?

The Washington DC tour was by minibus. We actually took a larger tour that was circular tour from NYC to Niagara Falls, Toronto, 1000 islands and Washington DC. However you can do the Washington DC part only as it is a separate touir that joins up with the other. The first part of the tour was by a large tour bus. I heartily recommend doing the complete tour.

If you have RCI Platinum, there is availability at the Washington Hilton which is right in the city. It is only a hotel room but that still works for us.

I do not have platinum but am interested in how many TPUs this exchange would take?

Between 18 and 43 (the majority) depending on the time of year. There is availability between December 2014 and March 2015.
I put the information in RCI Exchange opportunities.
