  • Ocean City, MD questions

FINALLY we leave a week from Friday for Ocean City, MD for a stay in a 3 Bedroom seveth floor oceanview at Sea Time!

Is it worth it to take the ferry? $45 one way for the 3 of us and a car. It only cuts about 30 minutes off the trip. Which are the "new" ferries if we decide to take one in one direction for the experience?

Any suggestions for dining out ribs, seafood, steak et al would also be appreciated. Bear in mind that we are in the very northern part of OC only a couple of miles from Delaware.

What are the MUST DOs for the area?

    I can't wait!

    Lawren,

I don't have any restaurant suggestions, however, don't forget that Delaware has no tax. Soooo, certain things are much cheaper to purchase......

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

        Re: Ocean City

This is the "official" Ocean City Web site:

        http://www.ococean.com/

Since you will be above 100th street you "must" eat at these two at least once.

        Phillips Seafood House
        141st. St. & Coastal Hwy.
        410-250-1200 800-799-2722
        www.phillipsoc.com

(it is the same Phillips family you find on the Harbor in Annapolis)

        Harpoon Hanna’s
        142nd St. & Bay
        302-539-3095 800-227-0525
        www.harpoonhannas.oceancity.

The parking at the inlet for beach and boardwalk has gotten much more efficient....but pricy. You might try going over the line and have a beach day at the Delaware State Park - Fenwick. (large bath house).

The 70 minute ferry ride is not worth the expense. The ferry you ride is which ever one is in service. Plus it dumps you right into the Lewes, Rehoboth weekend beach traffic. Better to come down route 1 all the way to the 113 split (Milford) continue south on 113 to below Selbyville then cut over to OC. This way you will avoid the crawl through Rehoboth and Dewey.

Can you write a short review and let us no how your stay was at this resort?

There is very few information on Maryland t/s resorts.

Thanks for your assistance and enjoy your week.

I would like to see a review too... does this mean I need to get the reviews area running ASAP?

We have been looking for a fixed week 3-bedroom or 2-bedroom w/loft unit for a while now and we have not really decided on a resort to look for yet. Ocean City for us is a couple hour drive.

TYVM Avery. This one is also plain vanilla but when Clarion is asking $250+/night it makes me love timeshares even MORE. This is our first visit to OC,MD. NO TAX! NONE? COOL

Thanks much Daniel! I will print those restaurants up and take them with me. Good to know about the ferry too. I'd much rather eat and more and nicer than spend $90 on something not worth the money.

Ryne I ALWAYS write my reviews and am currently saving them in WORD for the day we have a review section <AHEM> AND depending on wi-fi availability you all might get pictures while I'm there IF <AHEM> the photoserver makes it back.

All kidding aside Ken, I will ask for the owner sale list while I'm there at SeaTime. My understanding is that 70% of the place is full time residence apartments and 30% timeshare. It is a small miracle that I wrangled a 3 Bedroom.

You never know. I might get a bad weather day and go timeshare exploring like I did while at Celebrity Brigantine.

OC has tax. Rehoboth has no Tax, and they have several outlets around route 1 there, it is about 30 mile, so if you like DW that shopping is a necessary event, you can go there in week day. If you get bored, you can drive to Assateague Island National Park, just a few mile down south to watch some wild animals especially feral ponies. It is a great beach, but I don't think there is any museum or amusement part that special. A lot of water activities. There are some small towns around OC, I think the most famous is Berline because a movie "runaway bride" uses it as background. But I could not map anything with the movie.

Go to Secret's best club anywhere. Nicks Ribs is a good place for ribs as JR ribs is to. For crab cakes crabcake USA is supposed to be tops.
