  • Easter in Williamsburg?

I have the opportunity to get some weeks in Williamsburg for Easter at a relatively cheap cost to me. I have ignored the Easter week in the past because it has traditionally been very expensive for me to reserve with my points. Questions for the forum:
    • What week would you think is most demanded?
    • Sun-Sun ending Easter Sun?
    • Fri-Fri starting Good Friday?
    • What do you think is a reasonable price to get for a 2BR GC resort?
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Spence most of the kids in NY are off the week PRIOR to Easter I think many of the northeast kids too. So the better week would be Sun-Sun ending Easter.

As to rentals I haven't a clue. What is open in Williamsburg at that time?

Colonial Williamsburg, Historic Jamestown, and Yorktown are always open. Busch Gardens is open every day during that time period. It's usually a really nice time in Williamsburg, not like the summer heat and humidity.

        Hey, good to know stuff!

I have been wanting to go to Williamsburg, but having Busch Gardens open is a MUST for me.

And I really would like to avoid the heat and humidity. So it looks like that week would be a great choice for us!

I HAD been considering Labor Day week.

Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately
following the first full moon after the vernal (spring) equinox.
It can fall anywhere between March 22 and April 25.

Who the heck cares, this is not what was asked and has nothing to do with the subject.

Guess you were not referring to your non GC units at:

First: One needs to know the exact dates
My Answer: I would prefer Friday to Friday
Who would want to check out on Easter Sunday

Why are your posts so inane? The exact dates have nothing to do with the question of what check-in day of the week would be preferred.

My Kids have off Good Friday and the week after so I'd pick Friday to Friday starting on Good Friday if I were to take a week off and go to VA.

                        Hi Spence,

I would pick Friday to Friday. I wouldn't know price.

Williamsburg is grand in the springtime. It's our favorite time to be there.

I will be staying at Governors green, checking in the Saturday before Easter and checking out a week later. I hope the weather will be nice.

Friday to Friday the kids could enjoy a nice week at the resort and they also could visit Busch Garden (on Friday, Saturday & Sunday).

                              Spence,
places like Residence Inn, Embassy Suites, and the like are charging about $175 per night during those two weeks. It looks like Powhattan is charging $135 for a 1BR.

Given that, I think you could get $700-1000 for a 2BR unit, but I'm not an expert. I guess what I'm saying is that I would pay that much if I needed a place of that size.

FYI, Manor Club isn't showing any vacancies that week, so the town is probably going to be close to full.

Also, in my experience in the hotel/restaurant industry there, those two weeks are the busiest weeks until July. Garden week is also busy. The weekend around W&M graduation is busy, but not the whole week.
