My 83 year old father wants to visit the new Marine Corps museum outside of DC. Trying to decide if using a Timeshare week is the way to go. Considered Williamsburg and just drive from there. Mom would like that also. But is there any other recomendations? Thinking March, April time frame.

You should be able to pick up some nice timeshares for that time frame in Williamsburg. IMO that is the way to go. Drive to DC should be about over an hour and a half. Start early and you should have enough time to do it all if not an extra days trip won't hurt. Keep in mind, That There may not be a lot open in VA at that time. You should be able to see most of the colonial things as well be able to do plenty of shopping in the outlets. Another good thing is you will not have to wait at the many restaurants in VA.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I think Fairfield has a timeshare right in the DC area, but it may be a tough one to trade into. Massanutten and the Skyline ranch are other closer possibilities.

I do not know if I would want to visit a museum, walk around ALL day, and get on I95 heading home.
Now, I am not one who loves to drive, so I am just giving MY opinion.
I would stay at a hotel nearby, so I could eat soon after touring the museum, and go to bed.
In looking at the press release for the dedication of the museum, there appear to be many hotels nearby (in all price ranges).

And, if shopping is really a requirement, there is another ourlet/discount mall nearby Triangle, VA.hope this info helps,

Will look at Williamsburg and hotels.
If we stay near the meuseum where would you fly into?
Thaks again.
Here's the tripadvisor info on a Ramada Inn near the museum. Maybe you could stay in Wburg, drive up and go to the museum, then spend one night in the hotel and drive back the next day.

While Reagan National is probably your closest option for airports, Richmond is another possibility. Richmond would be a farther drive, but would take you out of most of the traffic in the DC area. This assumes that you are not interested in sightseeing in DC.
As for hotels, you may want to look for something in Fredericksburg.
