We were actually pretty disappointed in our unit in Pennsylvania Poconos a few years ago. The unit was outdated and had a whirlpool tub that had a horrid sulphur smell when we used it. Plus, the decor was dark brown everywhere. I think it was Shawnee, but it seems that many of the other parts of the resort were newer.

I would bet a resort in that area would trade well, there are so few, but I have no idea. Would anyone know?

Sounds like the Shawnee units, maybe the older ones at Ridge Top (we had the sulphur problem there), but could be another. The Summit units were much better, and we had no sulphur issues at Northslope although the units are older.

I don't think they trade great. I used to pick up President's week with an AC. Maybe summer weeks are better.

            Bushkill Falls

How easy/hard is it to walk the trails to see all eight (8) waterfalls?

The "Niagara of Pennsylvania", Bushkill Falls is among the Keystone State's
most famous scenic attractions. This unique series of eight waterfalls,
nestled deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains, is accessible through
an excellent network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views
of the falls and the surrounding forest.

I hear they do not trade well. Maybe the casinos will improve the trade value.

We have stayed at Shawnee a few times, in River Village II (just okay) and Ridge Top Summit (much nicer).

The other nice places are supposed to be Willowbrook at Split Rock (the newest part of Split Rock) and the 3brs at Villas at Fairway, I think?

We love the Poconos and often vacation there.

It's been a few years, but most trails are a relatively easy walk. there are some stairs and bridges. There was at least one trail that more difficult, steeper incline, more rocks/boulders, etc... but the trails should be marked for difficulty and/or you can ask when you pick up your map. I don't recall being able to see/distinguish all eight falls, though, I would bet you'd have to get there when they are running full throttle for that.

From my understanding the closest is Splitrock. If you want casino in the Poconos I believe Pat had posted that they one of the Cesare's resorts has the gambling on site. I would look into a nice romantic few nights there. Some of there rooms have the heart shaped Jacuzzi or the champagne glass hot tubs.

As far as Shawnee has some old units and they have some new units. You can still email Theresa for information on what to look for.

I'm beginning to wonder if Shawnee had sulphur baths as an amenity. We complained and they dispatched a crew and cleaned it while also fixing a few other problems we had. Bushkill Falls was a dud in my book and we found the trails to be fairly easy (but we did some hiking back then). We went after a relative dry spell and the falls (or trickles) were not at all impressive.
