  • Poconos- Split Rock, Shawnee or ???

Which of the Poconos resorts do you like better and why? I know that is kinda an open ended question, but I was thinking of looking at a Getaway there and wanted to get some input from those who have been there. Thanks.

I have always liked Splitrock more because they have a Bowling alley, Movie theater and a few extra amenities that you do not normally see. One nice thing about Shawnee is the area which has better restaurants. Splitrock has Miss Piggy's in the area for breakfast and they make the best French toast around.

Which units would you recommend at each resort (I see several listings for each one)? Thanks for the info.

        Depends
If you stay at Splitrock the westwood villas is across the street from the complex but they are bigger units and you sometimes see deer there. The Gallaria units are much smaller but are inside the complex. In Shawnee Ridgetop II is fairly up to date. I stayed there 2 years ago and enjoyed our stay.

Also if you stay in Splitrock you are 1 hour from Knoebles Knoebels Amusement Resort and 30 Min from Jim Thorpe.
BTW I will be in Splitrock this coming May.

Thanks Frank. As far the Westwood villas- how far is "across the street from the complex" - does it mean a block or so away from the center of things or half a mile or so? I know on Tug the Willowbrook was rec. for Split Rock- but it seems that there are only 1 BR's there (not sure though) and I also couldn't figure out the proximity.

I thought May/June might be a nice time too.

As usual- you're a great resource- thanks!

The Westwood Villas are 2 bedroom units. Willow Brook are the newer but smaler units. Depending on where your unit is, I would say it is 1 to a 2 block walk.

If you consider Shawnee, I would be leary of the units right down on the river (Fairway Village as the big one) because of the flooding of those units last summer. I had uploaded some pics here:

              http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...-delaware.html

We own a "Ridge Top" unit and those units are nice 2-bedroom units that sleep 8 with inclusion of the sleeper sofa. The units are also away from the roads so it is quiet but you can walk to the activities.

There is a lot to do in the area around Shawnee but it is far too open ended for me to try to list what is in the area without knowing what you like...
