I have stayed in the 2BR Summit units, and they seemed pretty nice. They were spacious and well-equipped. If stairs are an issue, you should request a unit on the same level that you enter the building. There are units above and below that level. Also, the washer/dryer were on the bottom level.

Which Massauntten ?

We did a SE tour Fall 2006 - and one of the four t/s on the trip - was #5711 Woodstone @ Massauntten ---- GC rating -

It was a nice resort but nothing special - people were very nice - check in was easy - space was clean and furnishing were okay - no maintenance issues - but it just didn't have the 'zing' that I was expecting --- (according to RCI it was a 1 in 4 resort - a 1 in 8 would be to often for me)

It is in a rural area of Viriginia - and you drive everywhere - from your unit to the admin office - to any of the on-site eating place - to the $30++++ a day water park - 12 miles to the grocery store to the west and 6 miles to the east (there is a little store on site) - to the Shenandoah National Park -

The design of the unit left LOTs to be desired IMHO - very large spaces but not very 'homey' at all - the bedroom were back to back and the beds were headboard to headboard thru a non-insulated wall - the master bath (very nice ) was off a hallway - not the master bedroom - walk down the hall thru the master bedroom to get to the deck - steps to get in all the units - even the ground floor ones - w/d was in the 'lobby' in the entry for the lower unit and upper units - and the upper levels only had a partial kitchen - ie, a outside propane grill rather than a stove - I thought the designs was sooo 'nuts' - I went over to the new improved 'undercontruction' units - EXACTLY the same....

We talked to several owner - all from the bigger eastern cities - and this very rural resort is within a days travel of millions of people - and they were very happy with the resort and the rural solitude ..... we did see deer on the putt'n course and did see - two mornings - the biggest stink kitty (skunk) waddling along the trees/shrubs off the decks - and you could talk to folks on all eight decks in this 'unit' - no divisions - no offsets - while sitting on the standard white/green/tan plastic deck chairs.......

Other resorts on this trip: 1st resort was Governors Crossing at Sieverville, TN - 2nd was Woodstone @ M - 3rd was Powhattan at Williamsburg and 4th was Waterside by Spinnaker, Hilton Head - of these four resorts -Woodstone would be at the bottom of the 'nice' list - we actually left two days early and drove into DC and stayed in a not-so-great motel in Tyson Corners
